Re: 6th Ed. WRG. yes!

Afternoon all, I got the rules yesterday and read them last night. My impression are they remind me of 6th Ed. in some regard and to me, this is a good thing. 7th Ed. was a poor concept and sadly, DBA and DBM just lacked any real realizism in a wargame environment. You hear this a lot and what I th...

Compared with DBx, FOG is more like 6th edition, and 7th edition. But then so is just about every other set of wargames rules ever written. People just compare it with what they know. DBx was quite unique, FOG is a step back into the mainsteam, hopefully it does things better than other sets availab...

Re: Arrived!

I think we just need to relax a bit. How many years have we been waiting for a good set of Ancient rules with a high standard of presentation? A couple more weeks should make no difference.

So long as such a wheel (and only one is allowed) didn't result in less bases making contact than would have occurred with a straight ahead charge move then it is legal, otherwise the chariots would have needed to charge straight ahead. I'm presuming that stepping forward is counted towards how man...

One thing with this particular situation that we didn't mention is that the scythed chariots started in front of the charging cavalry so that the cavalry could not contact the enemy without the chariots getting out of the way or the cavalry contracting during the charge. I don't know if the latter i...

I suspect the answer is to amend the scythed chariot removal to include any contact with any unbroken enemy they fought this turn except as an overlap only in the melee phase. Steve I think we've discovered the fog equivilent of the Clingon, of course scythed chariots were well known throughout his...

The trouble with that is keef contacting my two element wide unit with a two element wide cavalry unit lined up on the front and a scythed chariot corner to corner. He elected to fight with the chariot and one cavalry element in impact phase, rather than the two cavalry elements in front to front co...

Some suggestions: Barritus At Swords Crossed Shieldline Bad Men with Sharp Sticks? If you are suggesting that my proposed titles are stupid, why don't you give it a go and come up with some better? I think "Bad Men with Sharp Sticks" is the suggested title, or for those latin lovers among...

Well, you could always use "Ars Belli," which is Latin for "Art of War." I have been using that nickname on TMP and other wargaming discussion fora since 2002, but I wouldn't mind if you borrowed it. Please, please, please don't give the rules a latin name, nothing puts th...
