Are foot nutters viable in open comp?

You know Early Germans, Gauls etc..
Are they viable as masses of foot or will they require something more like a few bg's of sturdier allies or mounted?
Which lists would be more suited and why?
Without access to the lists I have no way of determining this for myself.

Thanks

Ah missed that. Yes indeed it is "Field of Glory" as publicised by Osprey this weekend at Salute along with some graphics, diags and the front cover. 2 half prizes I suppose - 2 half pints of beer? Si Do I have to drink them seperately? One day I'll make it to the IWF tournament(when FoG ...

Why be coy? Richard already spilled the beans over in the basing thread... Field of Glory.

Sounds good.
Do I get a runner-up prize for suggesting field of battle and age of glory?

Ok, so I started typing too fast as should have notices you specifically said Carthaginians and Romans. But my general commment applies. Contact the manufacturers.

shouldn't you contact manufacturers if you are planning to use their figures? I'm sure they would be more then willing to have their minis displayed in your rulebook. As a matter of fact, I was speaking with David of Kingsford Miniatures last weekend at our local conventino about thsi very thing. Yo...

Thnaks for the reply Nik. I've got some Moors modelled already for DBM including javelinmen behind camels. I hope the army might be more effective in AoW. Camels sound pretty tough. Will they maneuver as well as cavalry too or does that just depend on being drilled or not? If so I imagine they would...

What about troops who fought behind tethered camels as in the DBM moorish list? How will they be treated?
Or was that another DBM flight of fancy?

Something for the campaign rules might be the ability to influenece an enemie's ally out of the game.
Maybe by an points expenditure or sacrifice of some sort.

I too am happy with most games being on a billiard table. most rules do not give a good game if one side depends on rough terrain troops. Is AoW the exception?

Of course, that said, a little terrain is fun and gives good tactical possibilities.

I think the title can go two ways. And this is just off the top of my head. I'm sure the design team has thought this through already. So beware of rambling ahead. :) The title could be very descriptive like all Osprey books. This makes sense for Osprey titles since they are meant to be informative ...

I'm still wondering about basing for AoW. This thread does not give a definitive answer. We all want to play with our old elements, but if AoW is a big sucess, as I'm sure the designers are planning, then it will be the standard for basing within a few years. With that in mind, I encourage the use o...

English longbowmen and billmen according to some accounts. We intend to take this on a case by case basis, which is why it is only allowed if specified in the army lists. Will there also be a partner for providing miniatures to play with the game a la Flames of War? To attract new gamers this is prety much required as talked about elsewhere in this forum.

Is their any interpenetration in AoW? Can skirmishers interpenetrate their friends? I noticed in the photos of the sassanid roman game that skirmishers were in front of the battle line and then they were not later on.
