In the 25mm competition there are two armies down as 'anglo-irish'. Does anyone know if that is ealry or later? Cheers Why would anyone really be early if they can be later? Well, if you believe that their only motivation is to be a champion toy soldier player, then yes I would agree that later is ...

Also remember that depending on what it is armed with heavy foot can do well in rough. Not Spear or pike, but anything that is impact, or light spear and swordsmen is fairly handy. OK, you may lose 1 dice in three but if you are impact foot you will be on an up in impact. I would back roman armoured...

Why would this worry you? The rules are supposed to cover roughly 200 years of fairly fast passed technological development. The latest period armies should be deadly to earlier ones. OK the points system to some extent should balance this out. However, when the effectivness of troops change so quic...

Pudzy One last post on the great 'dice / die' debate is acceptable. One thing in your post that most certainly is not acceptable on a toy soldier forum however is making a post after doing some research - this is considered very bad form. You should only make posts of opinion, based either on readin...

Ah, use the index, hmm, there's an idea. To be honest I do think part of the problem may be people not using the index, as people think 'ah, it must be in section x, and it is not so people try figure out on there own where it may be. Although it partly seemed that people may either use the index to...

......the authors being English... Were do you live again... :) :) In an English colony? Good review as in 'biggin up FOG(R) in a blingin stylee', which is good as I would agree that it is a very fine set of rules, will be interesting to see how it develops over the next year or so. Crap review as ...

Ah, its a game of toy soldiers - collect the armies that you want and don't worry about if it makes any sense. To be frank, people that want to be logical and orgnaised about the hobby are missing the point really as far as I'm concerned, whimsy and changing interest are all part of the fun. Have a ...

With a village, yes the individual building and where they are placed are not an issue. As you say, it is more abstract - the entire area is a village, with model buildings helping to model and show that it is a village area rather than representing an actual building. So exactly like a wood - the a...

Everyone that starts FOG in 25mm starts by thinking 'same table size and move distance as 15mm - that can't be right'. I will grant you that it seems odd, however I play both 15mm and 25mm, both with 25mm=1MU on 6x4 tables. To be honest, I think this gives a better game in 25mm than 15s. There seem ...

It sounds like that you or some of the people you play with are used to rules where an important part of the skillset is estimating distance and relative position - Warhammer being by far the most famous such game. These skills are not part of FOG. If someone tries arguing that a real ancient genera...

Dear Mr M Axeman I found the reports from your games interesting and educational. However, in the report for your first battle you state 'Well, there is a limit to how many MaA anyone can own isn't there?' Are you suggesting that there is indeed a limit to how many toy soldiers that a person can own...

Which of course is not correct as this rule would not change depending on if the combat had conformed. 2 ways out of that impasse. The first is that the combat is fought as if they had conformed so it is not facing. The second is to question the definition of facing as 'pointing directly towards'. A...
