Thanks for the feedback. I look forward to faster smaller games under V2. The other issue with smaller points comps is that you often reduced to buying a pretty basic range of standard troops, so some 800pt players complain that the 650pt comps are boring. Do you have the same feed back in the UK? H...

Smaller and Quicker Games

One common request in Australia how can we make FoG quicker to play? Many players consider 3+ hours for a game is to long. FoG looks best at 800pts as it has more BGs, more troop variatey and more troops etc.... but how can this same feel be translated into 500-600pts games on smaller tables played ...

A few comments. I would be keen to try variable table sizes the next comp I run, it could be fun change. A mix of 6x4 and 5x4 to start with, the finals would be on 6x4 tables. I am happy to add some variability into the games, real world generals did not have the luxury of even fights on fixed battl...

This is great suggestion.

I agree that varying the board size would make for more interest, and smallewr boards might make foot armies viable. Most 15mm competitions I play in have 6 feet by 4 tables. Largely, they do this because they were once DBM tables and that was the most common size (hence organisers have tables and ...

15mm Saracen Foot

I am looking for 15mm Saracen Foot for an Italo-Norman army would you recommend I look at? Who makes nice Saracens that can mix with mainly Essex figures?

15mm Comps, how many Points & Table Size?

Here in Australia we are considering what table size and how many points work best in 15mm comps playing 2 games a day. What has worked well in the UK to produce a good balance between Shooty and Foot armies across most lists? We tend to play open comps with any list from any book. Some options incl...

Hi Ian I agree about the risks of running one dimension armies, however there many good Cav Lancer type armies in Wolves from Sea, where there are also few a tough spear armies, like your Vikings. Many Cav Lance based armies dominated the dark ages defeating armies that are largely Spear based, so I...

So far this post has confirmed my fears and experience Spear are tough nuts to with either other foot (Impact/Pike) or tough impact mounted troops like Heavy Armour Knights.

Any ideas how to defeat Spear based armies with Cav Lance type armies.

Thanks for a few tips.

I have been struggling to defeat Offensive Spear based armies. Rolling average may be part of the porblem but a lack of a viable plan is more of a problem for me.

So any good plans would be greatly accepted, rolling high is not a real plan.

Thanks

Are Offensive Spear to powerful vs Impact Foot or Pike?

After about 15 games of FOG, IMO it seems like Offensive Spear are by far the best all round Foot for the points.

Are Offensive Spear to powerful compared to Impact Foot or Pike?

What do you think?

How can Pike or Impact foot based armies beat Offensive spear armies?

2B then there are no disputes or confusion abour status. IMO, nice looking counters are the best solution and do not detract from the game.

I still use counters in DBM to mark completed combats and halts so there is no confusion around have we already done that one.
