Re: Wehrmacht Campaign | Generalissimus | Traits: None | Heroes: None

It has been a while since my last report but with good reason. While looking over my corps, I realized that I had made a major error in unit purchase throughout the course of the campaign. I should have been purchasing cheaper units so that I could have a greater number of them in my roster and on t...

Re: Wehrmacht Campaign | Generalissimus | Traits: None | Heroes: None

I started the Kiev scenario with optimism, but a couple of costly blunders forced me to restart the scenario after a few turns. I had switched my AAs to ATs to rout the Soviet infantry up north and forgot to set them back as AAs the next turn. This allowed the Soviet bombers to wreak havok on my tan...

Re: Wehrmacht Campaign | Generalissimus | Traits: None | Heroes: None

It is now 22 June 1941 and the invasion of the Soviet Union has begun! My unit is operating under Army Group Centre's command and it is suggested that I purchase the Karl-Gerät siege artillery. Alas, I do not have the prestige for this. Instead, I upgrade my 6 Panzers to the latest models and purcha...

Re: Wehrmacht Campaign | Generalissimus | Traits: None | Heroes: None

Dijon! Now this was the furthest I had gotten in this campaign before I restarted and decided to change the settings to neutral. The combination of Flexible Command and Perimeter Control, among other commander traits made it trivial to get behind enemy lines and assault their AA and arties. But now ...

Re: Wehrmacht Campaign | Generalissimus | Traits: None | Heroes: None

I have arrived at the Channel Coast scenario. My Panzer IBs are seriously obsolete so I upgrade all three to Panzer IVDs. After deploying all my units (2xINF, 6xTNK, 2xRCN, 2xAA, 2xFTR, 2xTB, 2xSB) I am left with one free core slot. I decide to buy a Fi 156 Storch reconnaissance plane. I'm left with...

Re: Wehrmacht Campaign | Generalissimus | Traits: None | Heroes: None

It's time for Breakthrough at Sedan! My first order of business, now that I had some prestige, was to reinforce my forces. My corps, after spending some prestige, now consisted of the following units: Infantry: Gebirgsjäger (4), Pioniere w/ Open Blitz (2), Wehr Infanterie (2) Tanks: Panzer IB (3), P...

Re: Wehrmacht Campaign | Generalissimus | Traits: None | Heroes: None

The Warsaw scenario was just as successful as Poland South. Could I keep up this pace? I took my troops to Norway South next. I bought the following units and deployed them, with only *24* prestige left afterwards: Pioniere w/ Opel Blitz (2) Gebirgsjäger (4) Ju 88A Strategic Bomber (3) I deployed on...

Re: Wehrmacht Campaign | Generalissimus | Traits: None | Heroes: None

After a successful Poland South scenario, my troops headed for Warsaw. I purchased these additional units: Bf 109E (1) Ju 87B (2) Wehrmacht Campaign | Generalissimus | Warsaw | Turn 1 https://steamuserimages-a.akamaihd.net/ugc/2011474614634417608/75E8EC47A8297CEB48B2CAAFE326DF34CD36CBCB/?imw=5000&am...

Wehrmacht Campaign | Generalissimus | Traits: None | Heroes: None

Hello fellow wargamers! I am a latecomer to this game so I will be playing through the Wehrmacht campaign. Inspired by Kerensky's post about playing with settings as standard as possible and wanting there to be no huge spikes in gameplay - aside from Combat Randomness - I decided on the following se...

Re: Suggest a game setup

QUESTION: What options/setup/traits would you recommend for the "good" player? I have played through the first few scenarios of the Wehrmacht campaign, so I can't speak to the AOs. With a certain combination of traits, I found myself swimming in prestige with a decent corps by Dijon at Ge...

Re: Undo option does not work for DLC

I had something similar occur. I had enabled the "Unmoved units warning?" option which should trigger when I try to End Turn. It worked when I tried to click the End Turn button, but not when I used the hotkey (Alt+E).

Re: I hit 1000 hours on steam

I hit now 1000 hours on steam ( i played more before offline but this is something special). This game is still my most played and loved. https://imgur.com/q8i8oO8 It is funny how playing war games used to be something I hid from people. I was the only one who did it in my house growing up and neve...

Re: Critique my gameplay - base campaign on FM difficulty

On 1.14 prestige won't be to much drain. That said hordes soviet armour will hit you cause you spend so still good have as much can. 1.20 it's must due to soft cap. Stephen1024 - I don't really know the difference between 1.14 and 1.20 but I have only been playing with 1.20 which I assume is the ne...

Re: Critique my gameplay - base campaign on FM difficulty

Stephen1024 is right - when using soft cap, you want to trade in SE infantry so you can have lots of expensive SE tanks that don't affect soft cap. I'm a fan of SE grenadiers and overstrength strategic bombers and prefer to set my own challenges, so soft cap is not good for me. Stephen1024 - do you...

Re: Critique my gameplay - base campaign on FM difficulty

As I'm going through the GC, I'm doing my best to manage my prestige. There is one situation, that although minor, I believe will impact the situation far into the future. Let's say I have an 88mm AA/AT at 9 strength in the deployment phase. I can either use elite replacements to keep that unit at 2...

Re: Critique my gameplay - base campaign on FM difficulty

I watched Soren's Poznan video all the way through and I understand why he has so much prestige later on in the campaign. First, he knew where AI units where. Thus he was able to move quickly and set up his units optimally. Because of this, his units took minimal damage and enemy units were destroye...

Re: Critique my gameplay - base campaign on FM difficulty

I think you are doing quite what should be expected as it is more or less the first or second time you play the GC right? I am currently playing the GC on Rommel. It is the first time for me playing on Rommel as well but I have completed the GC on Colonel, General and Field Marshal previously so I ...

Re: Critique my gameplay - base campaign on FM difficulty

Maybe he forces many units to surrender? Plus he usually takes very little damage, so less reinforcements cost? Perhaps so, but I too have been forcing units to surrender. And I think I've been playing close to optimal. Even if I had played perfectly, I'm pretty certain that I wouldn't have had ano...

Re: Critique my gameplay - base campaign on FM difficulty

I started playing the grand campaign now on Rommel level. I wanted to explore how being prestige restricted would affect my decisions. I decided to record my gameplay in case I decided to upload it to Youtube later. To gauge my success in this campaign, I've been watching GC Rommel videos by Soren T...

Re: Live Wehrmacht Campain

Ainkatsiss, congratulations on your BV in France! I like that you consider your moves carefully before committing. I see that you have purchased 15 cm sFH artillery units. I read that due to the rate of fire, the 10.5 cm leFH is just as powerful regarding suppression and is much cheaper. Were you aw...
