Re: Mod
I'm REALLY close. I've been successful in getting Marine Raiders to be transported by submarine. They are able to deploy to shore and return to their submarine. Just as with any transport the transport will "disappear" once the riders have disembarked. There are still a couple of small iss...

Re: Mod
The transport ability of submarines wasn't working with baby-subs last time I checked some time ago, so I wouldn't be surprised if it doesn't work with any other unit either. I did copy a submarine and attempt to use it as a transport. Did not work. Next I'm going to copy either a land or air trans...

Re: Editing units.csv File
In the units.csv file adjust the value in column AB, titled range. This value determines the weapons range in hexes. It will still only be able to target units it can see or are spotted by another unit.Pegon wrote:Thanks LadyLex, have managed to up the damage to 10-6, however, the range has still eluded me.

Re: Mod
I have been experimenting with marine raiders and submarine transport. I'm close, but not able to move them to shore from the submarine just yet. More tweaking, more testing. I haven't given up on this yet. Marine Raiders did historically deploy from submarines and amphibious transport. They were no...

Re: Editing units.csv File
Has someone made a guide to editing units.csv. I am trying to add some poke and range to my rail artillery, but unsure how to proceed. Make sure you use software which can save the file in the correct format. Open Office is great. I've used a couple of other programs, but Open Office is easiest (an...

Always make a back up of any files your going to change. Also make backups of the files you do change as you go along. I've had to recover from a backup a couple of times when the units.csv file inadvertently got saved in the wrong format.

Re: Mod
I also would like to see limited bomb loads. Pretty unrealistic to have aircraft rearm while in the air. Don't know if this is generally known, but I'll share what I have learned through some experimentation. Torpedo settings can be changed in the units.csv file. The column contains 3 comma separate...

I've been working on a mod, mostly covering the pacific. So far I have updated US and Japanese carriers to increase the size of the air wing they can support. Since I have not yet modified any scenarios to include these changes it would certainly be a one sided mod with only the player getting acces...

Re: Useless tanks.
There would be a lot of work researching all air/naval unit's speed and movement ranges. Is there any dedicated spread-sheet enthusiast here :D ? This would of course end up in a mod. I'd be happy to help out with the units.csv file if neccessary. I have been able in the past to get a private units...

Re: Useless tanks.
My aircraft speeds are about 50% faster than vanilla, but the fuel settings are about the same or less. I do my own reality-game conversion calculations but have to stick to vanilla directions to prevent screwing up missions and balance. I do know from PzC modding though that increasing the movemen...

The first time I saw the engineers in action I think I scared my wife. I play with headphones and when the engineers broke out their flame throwers.... I actually yelled out "Holy @$*% that was cool". :D I zoomed in every attack after that just to see what would happen. Keep getting better!

Re: OoB Blitzkrieg and reality
LadyLex, I understand the point you're trying to make, but if it was applied to all units (land, air, sea) the game would have so many units (100s likely) it would be virtually impossible to play. I'm not totally happy with the mechanics of the game, but at least they work fairly well and are not o...

Re: Erik's Campaigns
I forgot to suggest an exit zone for the player on each map. It’s always useful to replace units, may it damaged if you lack coins or not be the desired type due unexpected scenario development. In particular planes can benefit from it when airfields get lost or when you like to switch fighters aga...

Re: Useless tanks.
Yes, that was interesting. I'm leaning further towards modding units... I think naval units are generally too slow, especially compared to leg infantry. Specific unit's movement range could also be more varied, now the naval movement is too generic. I would also like to test an air mod which would ...

Re: I am impressed with unit artwork and detail.
I love the unit graphics as well. I'm an old board gamer, but in this game I prefer these graphics to NATO counters. I usually zoom way in when I perform the attacks just to watch the details. I too zoom in to watch the attack. The graphics are very well done. Though there are times I miss the old ...

Re: Useless tanks.
It's funny that the possibility to delay supply lost is actually already implemented in the game. All you need to do is to add fuel values to units in units.csv, like the 4 of the paratroopers. As long as the fuel number doesn't show 0, the efficiency won't be lost and units can still recover it. I...

Re: OoB Blitzkrieg and reality
LadyLex, I think you are being too literal with your complaint about aircraft. While each aircraft counter doesn't model real life flying times, etc, the fact is they model conditions of the actual battle. What I mean by this is that there were enemy and friendly aircraft over the battlefield a lot...

Re: OoB Blitzkrieg and reality
There is a certain amount of abstraction required when attempting to model real life, however if one claims as game to be based on WW2 it should at least be based on that reality. There is also certainly room for plenty of "what if", even in a historical simulation. I've "relived"...
