I am not really a campaign person. I think the most off-putting part is the length of it. 3 months plus is too long for me. What would the average length would be?

If there were shorter campaigns maybe that would encourage more players.

When game first came out the Thracians with HW were just average quality. A few years later they were upgraded to above average quality for only 3 pts extra.

No allies is fine as it also makes it simpler to set up.

But, you would find the same problem because some armies would be better with only the base build.
