Marian and Imperial reforms too early ?

I'm playing as Rome and I got Marian reforms after ca. 50 turns. I didn't even had time to enjoy playing with those new armies, when Imperial Reforms happened around turn 100. Isn't it too early ? It's a bit odd to watch those legonaries wearing lorica segmentata fighting with etruscan hoplites. Als...

I read that after Marian reforms the lack of skirmishers in the legions was solved by chosen legionaries who fought "expediti", which meant without armor and using light javelins instead of heavy pila. This seem plausible to me. In video games we are used to view some formations as trained...

pre-Marian units after Marian Reform

Hi Guys,

I've noticed that I still have some pre-Marian units like Velites, Alae, after Marian Reforms. Shouldn't they be replaced by some Auxilia ?
