Later Crusade figures

hi, looking to build a Later Crusader army for my g/f. She loves the look of Crusader knights and is into that period of history. I've read some posts recommending Legio Heroica figures and they do indeed look decent, but looks like none of their Crusaders ("Holy Land") range have the clot...

Flags - Donnington & Mirliton

Anyone used Donnington or Mirliton flags 15mm flags? Thinking of using some of each for my Swiss. Anyone tried either? How's the quality? Any tips/suggestions? Is there somewhere else I should look? I don't access to a high end colour printer. So need to buy my flags. Also Rene of Lorraine -- cannot...

Just noticed (Im new and/or slow?!) that I can field more Xbow if I pick a period prior to Burgundian Wars but after the Pike took over from the Halberd as principal block weapon. So, for tournaments (but not vs my mates Charles the Bold army), I'll be able to field extra xbow LF. Yay!

Terrain: for a newbie

Hi, what do folks use for terrain? I imagine felt cutouts (greens for woods, browns for rough, blue for lakes, etc) are an easy way. Where does one find the best price-for-look terrain pieces? Painted armies will cool terrain floats my boat and sucked me in, so I'd like to ensure I do my bit for a b...

My first tournament will be CanCon 2012: 650pts on 5x3, so really looking forward to it.

The idea of most/all games having a definitive breaking result is appealing.

Gave it some thought.

If I had an abundance of choice, something with elephants in it, or Byzantine or crusader periods, or vikings. 15mm

Why don't you consider FoG at MOAB? You'll get smashed 6 games to nil probably, but learn heaps out of the experience. There would be attendees who could loan you an army, and if not I can loan you one. I'm DBAing it this year, but can write up a moderately safe list for you and loan it to you over...

period I'm not fussed on, as I figure over time I'll want to have variety anyway. I am going to buy swiss figures to paint up if I dont get one pre-painted. quality of painting - tabletop standard. I'm not looking for an award winning army (due to my budget). Post to Australia. $ wise, I'm not sure ...

I wonder if Date periods but exclude the top 2-3 ranked armies in that period?
I'm new but looking at tournament results, I see a lot of the same army on the podium list?
