Re: How to play as Sarmatian?
From that other thread where I realized pikes and spears LOSE their POA bonus in impact if they are attacking mounted shock troops. Heavy theory crafting here. Buy all the unarmored noble lancers you can, fill out the rest with cheap medium javelins. Any money remaining goes towards skirmishers. Av...

Just play pot luck both armies medium sized open battle on a medium sized map with auto force selection. Dont need to think about it twice.

Re: superiority of Pyrrhic army
they have huge phalanxes and lance armored shock cavalry so what did you expect. As good as it gets back then.
also i would humbly note that romans are not required to auto win 24/7 365 on sight in all games

Re: Elephant Rampages?
They cause panic among your troops but at a distance of 2 squares not just 1 like any other unit. Panic area becomes quite huge. This is the effect of elephants rampaging. It is destructive in any case even if they dont trample your own troops per se.

Re: roman elephant
What do you guys think about flanking against the elephants. Should they care about being flank attacked? I mean they are animals which dont care very much and have no understanding of plans and tactics.

I like how the new RNG map generator adds obstacles which give directional combat advantage. Never was the case in open battles before this game.

Mongol composite bows were a mile ahead of their european equivalents. being smaller and appliable from the horseback it produced much more energy for the arrow still.

Re: LF Archers vs. Cavalry
When evading your unit and opponent's unit have a chance to randomly receive +4 or -4 on their movement points. So even if you a charged a square away then there is a possibility that the opponent gets +4 and you get -4 points and then hell be able to catch up with you and rout you.

Re: Phalanx: Hammer & Anvil v. Stab to Death
Lance cavalry and cataphracts are some of the most valuable units in FOG2. When playing against impact foot armies these lacne units provide impact advantage and evade melee to do a charge again. Literally the only units which give you an advantage (elephants and missles too).

Re: LF Archers vs. Cavalry
On a few occasions now, steady LF (most recently archers) with no enemy to their rear, or friendlies for that matter, have stood up to a cavalry charge in the open with fairly predictable results. They made no attempt to evade. is this expected behaviour? Cavalry has 16 movement, LF has 12. They di...

Re: Warbands need a rebalance???
I think the problem may lie partly in Impact Foot's power. Not only does it provide a very strong 200 POAs, it also adds a -1 cohesion check modifier on defeats. Impact foot units can very reliably disrupt other foot on impact. During the charge they easily match the much more fickle Pike's 200 POA...

Re: Warbands need a rebalance???
Im not sure that they are overpowered at all. They are unmaneuverable and super expensive plus will chase down their foes. I think people need to adapt. If people could handle swiss pike in PS then these warbands are also doable perhaps. Maybe you need to do something else ie spread out your army so...

i remember Partia in rome total war. They had cataphracts, archers and super trash infantry. if you boost parthia, then please do that in a realistic manner ie add some cataphracts and or other cavalry.(or their quality)

Re: Resilient Gauls?
Keep in mind that any advantage or disadvantage that your unit has in combat is diminished based upon the sort of disordering that you and your opponent gets. In other words, when your troops are superior, then the advantage becomes much less noticeable in disordering terrain which leads to prolonge...

Javelin armies have every right to be viable just like your favourite roman army which everyone seems to play 24/7 just saying.
