In the picture it seems that the purple step forward to contact green leaving the purple base fighting red in corner to corner contact with the other BG base.

It is this contact when stepped forward legal?

I don't understand very well the setence in the ambush section "ambushes must not be visible from any part of the enemy deployment area for skirmishers" i have scanned the deplyment map example and put in it some ambush markers.

A Bg of 4 bases of mounted troops is fighting to its front vs a mounted BG of 4 bases. A foot bg of 4 bases join the mele in an overlap only. After the melee phase the foot is steady. Has the cavalry to break off in the joint phase?

After reading again the commanders fighting/bolstering rules in our last game we have a doubt. Can a commander fighting in the front rank of a BG bolstering it in the joint phase?
