FOG-R Rules on Steam?

I'm looking for pdf versions of the FOG-R rules; the only versions I can find are on Steam, and they are labelled "Sengoku Jidai – Field of Glory Renaissance Core Rules pdf". I don't want/care about the Sengoku Jidai rules, are these just the base Renaissance rules? Also, Steam doesn't see...

Re: Best Place for Questions?

I'm glad you like version 3.1 - we put a lot of work into it and enjoy playing it. I think it is a very good ruleset and am surprised that it is not played more in the US (and elsewhere). Thanks for your work on updating it after all these years. I am also looking at Warrior, but FoG is considerabl...

I've signed up there already, thanks. There doesn't seem to be much traffic here, would it be better to ask any questions on FB do you think?

Re: Best Place for Questions?

...as well as several campaigns I have developed for FOG.... Does your blog include campaign rules for things such as how to deal with casualties, replacements, new units, etc? That's what I want to do, and as always, it is better not to re-invent the wheel if you already have something that works.

Re: Best Place for Questions?

I was at Historicon this weekend; there were about 24 people playing ADLG, maybe a dozen or so playing Warrior, and quite a few playing Triumph. There were some tables set aside for MeG, but they seemed empty, so didn't get to check that out. I chatted with one fellow at the ADLG tables that used to...

Re: Best Place for Questions?

I will still stick with fog at least until I can play a few games and understand it better (easier to compare to other games that way). Yeah, I'm not saying Warrior is better; it is just similar, but more convoluted. So I would definitely start with FOG. thanks for the suggestions, i did look into ...

Re: Best Place for Questions?

Not sure if you've seen Warrior, but it is similar to FOG in many ways, but significantly more complicated (in ways that I'm not sure are worth it). Also, I wanted to mention that rather than creating a VASSAL module from scratch, you might want to look at the existing modules for DBM and DBMM (ther...

Re: Best Place for Questions?

Thanks for responding. So that's you working on the VASSAL module? I saw that, looks interesting! AFAICT most/all of the previous FOG players in the US went over to ADLG or other rules 8-10 years ago, but having looked at ADLG pretty hard, I much prefer FOG. Honestly it's a bit weird how it seems to...

Best Place for Questions?

I've gone through the FOG 3.1 rules a couple of times now and like them more than most rules, but will certainly have some questions. Since I don't think there are any actual players in my area (DC), I'd like to be able to ask questions online somewhere. This is the only forum I've been able to find...

Anyone at Historicon?

New to Ancients minis and have just come across these rules; it looks like they aren't as popular as they once were, but I was wondering if anyone will be playing at Historicon this year?

I'm going for the first time and would love to meet some players, or former players I guess.

Re: Field of Glory: Kingdoms - The Concept of Authority

Thanks, my memory is definitely fuzzy, it's been a few years since I played Empires. But I disliked the "token" system. But this game really appeals to me, I'll almost certainly pick it up.

Modding Forum?

The part of the manual about editing the game refers us to the Modding forum for the game...but it doesn't seem to exist. I wanted to check whether the game allows the editing of save-game files? From the manual it doesn't sound like it, but it wasn't completely clear. This would be a great feature ...

Re: Field of Glory: Kingdoms - The Concept of Authority

The main reason I stopped playing FoG-Empires pretty quickly was that I hated the system (I forget what is was called) that I kept getting random "missions" to complete, and if I failed to accomplish three of them I lost some other attribute and then empire would collapse. IIRC these missi...

Re: Why a Forum?

Sure, it would be great to have this forum if the dev engaged with it, or we even had any evidence that he was looking at it. But so far...crickets...it seems to be a conversation amongst ourselves, so rather pointless.

Re: Why a Forum?

Yeah, totally understandable, but maybe wait to put up a forum until you have something to say? Otherwise, not much point in a public forum, keep it a closed beta?

Re: How different from Quadriga?

OK, thanks for the feedback. I liked Quadriga a lot, but it suffered from two significant problems arising from game design, rather than graphics or technical issues: 1) finishing no-hope races becomes kind of tedious, but you can't auto-finish, because if you do the game cheated by making your main...

Why a Forum?

Question for Slitherine: why do you bother putting up a forum for this game if there is no intent by you or the developer to, you know, respond in any way to posts here? Many developers/publishers utilize their forums to get people excited abou the game, post new info and screenshots, interact with ...

How different from Quadriga?

I played Quadriga quite a bit when it came out, enjoyed it quite a bit, although it had a few faults. How will this game be different? Is this the Quadriga II that was mentioned long ago? Is Turnopia behind it? I see that there is some kind of 3D view, although it seems odd that the view is from beh...

I came across this article ("The lost medieval sword fighting tricks no one can decode") online and found it very interesting, so I thought I'd share it here:

Re: Will the appearance of late 1400s men-at-arms be updated?

Oh,mister,It's really sad to see such things.I think maybe the game should get back to the Pike&Shot and the Sengoku Jidai's styles if the budget does not permit to make a game with full 3D animated historical accurate unit models(This is the biggest flaw of the FoG 2). Personally I don't see t...
