In Group Donskoi, Eric and Guido have to play their paired game to see who joins Tiavals in the quarter-finals. Eric just needs to win one of the two matches, Guido needs a win and a draw. Group Osman seems to be the "cerebral" group with only Ian and Londo finishing their paired games so far. But all the other matches are underway now and some are nearing completion. In Group Louis, pantherboy has already qualified for the quarter-finals. Klay and Jonathan are still to finish (Jonathan currently has some PC problems) with Klay just needing one win to progress, jonathan needs a win and a draw. In the Skanderbeg group CheAhn has already qualified for the quarter-finals and hidde seems certain to join him. All the remaining matches in this group are nearing completion now.
eric ( Fatimids ) 40/50 v Lysimachos ( Early Slav Later) 42/38
A very tough game. Guido played very well and made a game of it. Guido chose the map with lakes running approx through centre to middle point and a large area of brush on his left. I could not deploy my army to the left of the lakes as there wasn't enough space and so we deployed at opposite sides of the map. It would have taken a very long time to reach him but Guido attacked through and behind the lakes. The penultimate 2 turns were the most bizarre ones I have ever played in. It seemed all bgs that were at a disadvantage were winning so a fragmented unit would beat a disrupted unit etc. Definitely made me feel a bit paranoid about attacking with fresher troops. Once more an excellent game.
Hello Leonidas.
Could you please post the result from your game and I will fix it for you. It seems Tom has neglected to do so.
Players are advised that it is the winners responsibility to post their match results. However if you have lost and noticed your opponent has not posted a result please Pm me and I will endeavour to sort matters for you.
The Turks had little chance against the Serb lancers in both games. In the first game the Turks tried punching their way around both flanks of the Serbian lines but could not and were pushed to their own baseline. In the second game the Turks massed on a small hill in the corner of the map but even the uphill advantage made little difference. Two enjoyable games though.
