I didn't say the season was in it's early stages - still some way to go but will shortly be rolling to check if summer ends (chances start low but increase with each battle reported).

Morale - once you are in the red it gets no worse but trust me red is bad enough.

Those in the red are losing battles but they also failed to boast morale last season through public works - no temples, no games, no monuments to the piles of dead. This coming season will be the first where I need to roll for popular uprisings as at least 2 players are that low.

More players would be in the red but they did spend on public events & so avoided it (for now).

However the main cause remains constantly losing battles which is how I believe national morale should be especially as those same players having large treasuries in their palaces - popular rulers are not known for this.

DOW on the Nervii

Post by davouthojo »

With the successful conclusion of the war against the Rhodian Empire, Clan braveheart attempts to liberate another province groaning under a tyrant's heel.

We are attacking the Nervii, and have posted a challenge with the password "gauls"

See you on the battlefield!

The last reported battle result has triggered the end of Summer - whilst Spring dragged on the Fall rains have come early.

Spring consisted of 48 completed battles & summer has been 73.

I just need to record those last few battles which completed since the weekend and then I'll start on the Fall phase and report your treasury levels to you individually post army maintenance.

In the meantime it's Diplomacy - your chance to make formal alliances which cannot be broken for the year.

There will be a Build phase this Fall as several players did not take the opportunity last time and this is our first learning year!

Um, I've still got a battle to resolve (or not) with Rome if that matters.

PG:

Could you let us now how far in red-amber-green we are for moral? i.e., just where in amber I am and some idea on what it would take to bump it into green? I did what I thought were lots of public works and such but I also lost a ton of battles...so I have no clue where I might be.

*Needs to dry out from too many bubblebath frolics in the palace pool. Scribbles notes:

"Dear Deadtorius: Would you mind if I marched an army through your lands this Fall? Thought I'd take a little trip south."

"Dead Mouser: Would you mind if I marched an army through your lands this Fall? Thought I'd take a little trip south."

Lounges in the sun, fan-shaded and attended by the bubblettes.*

Afraid not - as an ancient ruler you would not have precise info but merely an indication of popularity.

And on the subject of national morale I've just posted the final levels on the player table for all Summer battles. So this is the level which will effect how successful your taxation will be coupled with the tax rate which you decree (1,2,3 or 4). It's in the player guide.

I'll PM your current treasury shortly once I've deducted army maintenace. You can then decide on the tax rate.

**Sends out greetings to all known rulers and such things. Believes in a 'Love All and Betray a Few" philosophy. Any and all ruler types out there interested in an alliance with the kingdom of Egypt need only scribble a note to us. We are already allied with 12, 4, 9, 2, 10, 3...we welcome more into our loving family of friends.**

**P.S.: If you don't get a reply from us...umm...it just means we ran out of papyrus paper...will get back to you as soon as we grow a bit more.**

re: Alliances

Do I have to keep track of when I make alliances? i.e., ones made in Fall will last through until next summer? But one made in spring will end this winter? Would it be easier to just have all alliances end in winter and we start clean each spring?

All alliances do end after winter - exception will be the marriage alliances.

The exceptional build phase will be after Taxation - so the only immediate benefits will be cities to defend in and public relations for morale.
