In division 1 it has been decided that the games vs Ericdoman and Snugglebunnies have been scored as 0 - 0 draws as they had not started any games.

Not that I care at all but just as a matter of interest, does that mean that everyone in their division will have a lower rating because of having a zero score in their games ?

edb1815 (Byzantine 551-578 w Germanic Horse Tribes allies) defeated Morat (Visigothic 419-621 w Byzantine allies). 54-28

Lots of Byzantine cavalry both mounted and dismounted in this battle. The Visigoths also brought warbands and were about to overwhelm the Byzantine infantry line when the more numerous Byzantine mounted wing won the cavalry battle.

Not that I care at all but just as a matter of interest, does that mean that everyone in their division will have a lower rating because of having a zero score in their games ?

The theory is that two equally matched players drawing 0 -0 will not change in ratings. However, in looking at some of the scores now i've entered them there is more of a difference where players of unequal ratings play. So you drawing against eric means you will loose rating and he would gain some points. Similarly I would gain and Eric would get a reduced rating.

I'll take a closer look and see if it would be better to just null the games - although the spreadsheet isnt set up to do this.

We'll let you know.

I have awarded 40-15 wins for all incomplete games against Villapotenza, who has disappeared (alexhstandish 43-0 win stands).

All but one other game has been finished, and the finishing positions are final. Congratulations to alexhstandish!

And comiserations to Ironclad. Eight wins out of 9 is a great record, but unfortunately a lot of those wins were narrow, and the game against alexhstandish was crucuial.

Div 2

Morat (Visigoths/Byzantines) beat Hari72 Hepthalite: 61-37

Sprawling battle where the Hepthalite horse archers shattered and scattered the Byzantine horse on the right, while a mixture of Visigoth horse and foot eventually overcame elephants and horse on the left. The decisive battle was in the centre, where Visigoth and byzantine foot anchored themselves on a low hill and used massed archers and lights to beat off horse archer attacks until the forces on the left could get back and finish off the fight.

Thanks to Hari72 for a long and hard fought battle.

Syracusans managed to avoid the worst of the pikes and hold off the archers to get off the victory. GG!

edb1815 (Byzantine 551-578 w/Germanic Horse Tribes ally) defeated tmac11 (Roman 24 BC-196 AD w/Sarmation ally) 61-36

The battle started with a lot of maneuvering as the Romans marched towards high ground with rough terrain perfect for their Auxilia and bowmen. Seeing this the Byzantines marched obliquely away and towards a hill on the other flank. The battles stated as some Byzantine lights got caught out covering this march. Essentially the armies got turned 90 degrees and faced each other and faced each other across a valley along the short side of the map. Then a cavalry battle was joined on the left flank as the Byzantines refused the right flank and set up on a ridge whilst wearing down the superior Roman HI with missiles. Ultimately the Roman line charged, and everyone got stuck in. The Byzantine cavalry got the upper hand and the numerous light horse made a nuisance of themselves bringing the Romans to the breakpoint.
