Macedonczyk (Arab Conquest) defeats Klayeckles (indo-greek+ indian) 43:7

Result is high but not easy game. I have to deep think with moving units on begining to correct my start setup and to avoid some clever trap.

So Macedonczyk is our new champion for 2020. Congratulations to him for putting together an extremely impressive set of results and commiserations to klayeckles for coming second. It is still a very good achievement to win 5 matches in a row to reach the final. My thanks to everyone who participated in the tournament and contributed to making it a success once again. Thanks also to Slitherine for continuing to sponsor the tournament. The tournament will return in the spring next year.

Congratulations to Macedoncyzk. Playing him has convinced me that Arab Conquest is an even better army than my beloved Andalusians. And condolences to klayeckles who had to contend with a great army and a terrain map that did not help his Indo Greeks.

As with the FOG1 KO Tournament we now have enough data from 3 seasons of FOG2 KO tournaments to post ratings. It is just a bit of fun and has no other significance other than maybe add a little more spice to the competition. You get 6 rating points for winning the tournament, 4 for for being the beaten finalist, 2 for being a beaten semi-finalist and 1 for being a beaten quarter-finalist. Here are the Top 10 . . .

Just a quick message to say that this tournament will be going ahead again this year starting on April 1st. Recruitment will open on March 20th and there will be 64 places available.

How does it work, army wise? Any armies can meet, depending on players' choices?

You can choose any army, plus allies if required, and you use it for the entire tournament. It doesn't matter if someone else has the army either.

Just a reminder to let you know that recruitment for this tournament will be opening on Saturday March 20th. I am expecting that places will go very quickly so you will need to get your name down promptly. You may choose any army (with allies if required) and it does not matter if someone else has chosen that army. The draw will take place on Wednesday 31st March and play will start on Thursday April 1st. You have to win to stay in!

This will be allowed in the tournament so that players can pick either ancient or medieval armies. The only issue that I can see will be if a player just having FOG2 Ancients is drawn against a player who has just FOG2 Medieval. I don't think it is likely to happen very often and I will ask everyone to indicate if they only have one of the two games. I will arrange the draw so that those players are not drawn against each other in the early rounds.

Recruitment is now open!

Please choose just one army (with allies if required) from either FOG2 Ancients or FOG2 Medieval. It does not matter if someone has already chosen the same army. Matches will be played at 1200 points. We will be using the Time Warp facility that is available free to those players who have FOG2 Medieval. Army selections by the end of March 30th please and the draw will take place on March 31st. There is a maximum of 64 places available.

Please also indicate if you have only FOG2 Ancients or only FOG2 Medieval. If you have both then there is no need to indicate anything. This will help me avoid pairing players who only have one of the games in the early rounds of the tournament.

Am not at all sure if Medieval can cope with the better Ancient lists so will give it a try to see what happens.
