what about that folders structure? its just about one of them? whats in it?

steam version has different .exe, nonsteam .exe fails at checking serial number, so it can really differs alse elsewhere

it was working fine, except that 2 errors i posted

ive played cp first, when it ended i started immediately new game as entente (i havent played it as first game after ctgw launch, so i havent noticed if serbia was surrendering or not)

i guess now its just about that randomizer is giving numbers which is going to serbian surrender etc.

but it was there always, if i wanted to ai behave differently, i had to start more games after launch, to get different random seed, else ai picked always the same events in first turn and all attacks had same results if played in the same sequence

If the randomizer gave you the exact same numbers upon game launch then you would hear the exact same tune playing on the game title too, since the randomizer is fired fired before the game launches and the choice what tune is played on the title screen is the first time the randomizer acts.

So if the randomizer was faulty, then you would hear the same tune on the title screen again and again.

sounds and music off, for a long time, sorry :lol:

but ive told you about semi randomizing long time ago too, it was in that discussion about randomizing events

first turns are always the same

i was suggesting if its possible to add some number to these random seeded...

byt uve told me something like its exactly working as intended and u wont change it, so i let it be

but now, when serbia is surrendering each time after launch cgtw, its more unpleasant

its the same song everytime, i guess no surprise now...

2nd time its different song (starting game and going back to main menu), any next time its always 2nd song, even next games are randomized differently, song remains the 2nd one

but as far as i know, after launch 1st game starts always same, 2nd game starts always same, 3rd game starts always same etc.

so if i wanted to start differently i had to skip these known scenarios...

Okay, start the game 5 times, without launching a game, then close it.

Look at the last lines of ctgw.log and tell me, whether it is different each time.

I started it 5 times and got:

1st...

Those are 5(!) different results.

If you can't get 5 different results than clearly something with LUA is wrong between different Windows-versions (XP here, yeah, I'm a poor soul).

windows 10, its working like ever, if wanted different start, i had to skip first game, if wanted next different start, i had to skip first and second game etc. its just semi random

with my bad english ive tried to suggest, if to that seeds can be added any number, that "it is now" looks great for that (divided with some huge number it could be usefull, divided to get modulo)

its not, but i can asure u, yesterday or tomorrow, it will be always the same "random" seed

first game after ctgw launch is always the same, 2nd game is always same as 2nd game any other day etc.
(of course i mean first turn, later it depends on actions, which are involved in that semi random system of ctgw)

btw why there are 2 times "is it now", first one changing, second one constant (or similar, first end 26 next four 27)?

As I posted before I got 5 different opening events from CP AI on my machine.
I also get different random numbers in my logfile.

So, I wonder what makes the LUA randomizer behave that different on our machines?

dont know, but after launch its always somehow reseted to same number
(starting 2nd game after launch its reseting it to next number, but always same next number)

so i suggest, its possible to add the changing "is it now" to that seeds?

The seeds here behave as they should, even tested if on a different PC, working as designed.

It's math.randomseed(os.time()) multiplied with math.randomseed(os.clock()) and then "firing" off the first 256 numbers.

If you have a better randomizer for LUA please give a link.

i dont have one, but i have an idea, how this one can be improved

u get same numbers by it, but u can extend them by adding changing "is it now" number (first one is different in each of my logs)

if u are using range of numbers 0 to 99 for example in some formula

u can add "is it now" modulo 100

at least in first turn it would be usefull to get different events for ai, later its not such crucial

can be math operations used in lua or just some methods?

This still does not explain why I got a truly random outcome while you don't.

I don't think that messing with the randomizer on your machine might have a different result.

You see MY result IS random from the very same function while yours is NOT.
There must be a reason!

But I'll look into you proposal.

i know, but its solution, at least for the first turn, later like any action changes outcome, so no one game wont be the same

xp and w10 are really different systems, it can be caused of it

btw. my idea needs (random number + "is it now") modulo range

as explained before it could overflow the range easily

how many songs should be in main menu, just 2?
