Re: Stratford Scramble Tournament
Just one more result, and we post final standings. I think I'll start the next one after I finish the Chaos Tournament. I committed earlier to help Schweet test his mod in his tournament and give feedback as well so my plate is kind of full atm.

TGM's Assyrians defeat Rob123's Vikings 37-62
The arrow storm took great effect in the beginning but then the arrows ran dry and in a surprise move, the enemy foot charged and defeated our heavy chariots changing the balance and leading to a long battle of attrition ...
Good game!
Fun tourney, would do another!

Re: Stratford Scramble Tournament
Many thanks for arranging this tournament, Mike! It has been great fun, especially to play with my selected army only in the last round.
Two suggestions regarding possible changes to next "season":
1. If possible structurally/mathematically, every player meets his/her selected army in the first round.
2. If interest grows with more players attending, divide into different historical eras. (called for by my 'sense of good order'...
Overall, great setup!

Congratulations to Karvon
Thanks for the games everyone!
Final Standings
I'll look to start another thread for the second one around the last week of August. I will implement first come first serve rules and no duplicate armies and not playing against the same opposing army twice as per Karvon's suggestions and having to play against your own army in the first round is a great idea from Kronenblatt. You have to taste your own medicine first
. A swiss format works with any even number of players but works best in powers of 2 to avoid pair-ups and pair-downs so I'll aim for 8 or 16 players. If you (as players of the first one) are interested in this second one, I will reserve space for you so you will get in regardless of when you sign up for it but I cannot preserve spots for army picks. That is still first come first serve. Just shoot me a PM and you won't get bumped when I start signups for the second tournament if there are odd numbers of I stick to a hard 8/16 man format.
Thanks again guys!
edit: Fixed the list. I hate BB code

Thanks Mike for organizing this. I think all the ideas mentioned are good ones. I look forward to defending my title in the next tourney.

Re: Stratford Scramble Tournament #1(Completed)
I'm in. (As per earlier PM but just for the sake of good order.)
You could also, if not filling up in full groups of 8, have a residual group of 4 (if filling up to that), along the lines of the same structure. That is, first play against a random player and against your own army, and then against the other winner (if you won, or against the other loser if you lost) with your own army. One game less for the players in that smaller group, but at least more players can participate.
And first come, first serve, also when it comes to filling up the groups.
Btw: what decision did you finally make with respect to army selection? No exact duplicates obviously, but still possible to choose same country but different time period? (I'd prefer no as your answer to that question in order to get some more variety among the armies in the tournament.)
