This battle is from hell and gave me huge trouble getting the DV. Reload on turn 3 due to just constant blow-ups leading to an ad nauseam amount of restarts.

Deployed a bunch of the aux units to help out as you're given exit hexes for them.

I watched the playback recently. A few things

Rommel was not set based on the prestige you were earning during it.

You were super aggressive, love to see that.

I see you upgraded the 2 Ital AA to the Ital 88 version. I have never seen anyone do that. I thought about doing it before but was recommended against it, but I see it made a huge difference.

Did you upgrade any other units? you had a lot of Alpine's, I do not think I have any, should I upgrade to Alpini's to help with defense?

Hmm, replay looks good at quick glance. Showing 75 prestige per turn which is correct for rommel. What are you seeing specifically?

I think any in-family upgrade is a no brainer if you can spare the prestige, those AA and artillery units are very helpful indeed. The thinking is that all the aux units will carry forward past Italy and can be disbanded for full prestige so as long as it's an in-family upgrade no real prestige is lost.

Oh not sure what is going on. The replay you sent me those many moons ago, has you with all SE Panther's and earning 150 prestige per round. Maybe that was a Manstein playthrough?

Ah yes it's very possible that I sent you both. I'll send the Ultimate one a bit later.

Added missing replay although I'm not sure if anyone actually downloads them besides web crawler bots.

Oh man. Your playthrough was brilliant. I am going to use for my attempt. Quite amazing how you pulled it off with what seems like ease. Very dynamic and repeatable. How did you get so many good Pz's. Did you import 3?

Thanks. I did need a reload (turn 3) to get it done, my first reload of the playthrough. It was very hard, I recall losing air units frequently to enemy fighters which was a theme to continue for the whole playthrough.

I imported: eight tanks (four SE), two infantry, two fighters, and one tac bomber (rudel). It almost felt like cheating importing all frontline units, for me it was the obvious choice since they use all their combat stats in every engagement while at the same time being most at risk for taking costly damage.

Holy Crap 8 tanks!!!! That is insane. I love tanks but they have their limitations, but maybe Richard and I are thinking too much of the East problems when importing our core. I took 2 Tanks Rondorf and Kerscher as Flamm's, 4 SE Pz's, +1 Movement 88 and +1 Movement Nebelwerfer. 2 Fighters and Rudel, Oh yeah Oleh Dir as a Grenadier and Winnsberger as a Kradschutzen.
