We tried our very best, but this was not enough. However, we're able to travel back in time in order to do a second attempt.

Although we wanted to do things right in the second attempt, we still have to face bad failures and harsh consequences.

The low budget and the long time a component needs to be researched is slowing the GSA space program down.

The GSA funds are increasing! Finally, some advanced missions can be launched.

Long research times and failed missions can really cause severe damage to the tight schedule of the space program.

A new update is released and the game is now featuring a Soviet and a NASA space center. But before we explore the new features, I like to share with you the end of my 2nd 0.7.16 attempt.

After we have explored the Soviet Space Center, it is now time to take revenge and to finally land on the Moon before Q4.1973. Unfortunately, the new attempt has bad surprises for me...

I belive that the Soviet main screen is actually both Baikonur, Star City and possibly a few other places meshed into one.

The Soviet program was spread out all over the country. Baikonur wa sthe launch site, but most of the research, development and even astronaut training took part elsewhere. Almost the whole biological program (space rats, space dogs etc) was conducted in Moscow for example, and the animals and handlers would fly to Baikonut just for the actual launches.

Obviously this is a game and the main menu screen has to be unified, as a result its more conceptual.

Absolutely, yes. What you see in SPM is just a simplification of the real space complexes. The same for NASA: it's spread across multiple centers all over the US, so what you see in the game is just an abstraction.

@Sabratha: My reason for calling it "Baikonur" was mainly caused by the landscape and not so much by the buildings available (you have already explained why) :-)

Now, after HoW14 is over, it's time to continue with the Space Program. Unfortunately, the X-15 seems to be a real killer - can anyone survive the ride?

After the X-15 has become a real nightmare, it is time to find a solution to counteract the high failure rate. The first approach is to train the flight controllers, so that they are prepared to solve every issue.

The training sessions have really improved the performance of the flight controllers and they are now able to solve sudden issues. Finally, it is time to focus on the main goal: researching the components for a Moon Landing.

Improving the R/D process is still the number one goal. In order to do this, scienctists are periodically exchanged so that they can go to advanced training and expand their knowledge.

The Apollo components are finally ready to be launched for the very first flight tests. Unfortunately, there are so many different dependencies that the Lunar Landing is still very far away.

Preparing a Lunar Landing is very challenging: so many different flight tests need to be completed before the final landing mission can be scheduled.

The space program makes good progress and everything seems to work as intended. The successful landing on the Moon should be doable!

After three failures in a row, it is time to mix things up. Over the next few episodes, I will play the game in sandbox mode on the side of NASA. However, I will apply the Q4.1973 Moon Landing limit to this attempt, too.

Although the new update is out, there are still two episodes of the NASA session left before we'll discover the brand new animations :-)
