Macedonians (Cromlechi) 45/47 Spanish (ScipioAsinus) 56/53

Very close encounter. My Macedonians redeemed themselves somewhat after their embarrassing display in the first round. Although we lost the initiative we came prepared for difficult terrain with plenty of Medium foot and light missile troops to counter the ambushers. Although we lost the encounter on the left flank (mountain terrain) the pikes won on my right flank and we even managed to loot the enemy camp early on. Thanks to ScipioAsinus for a really well fought game that could easily have gone the other way.

Lydianed (Bosporan Late) 35/44 vs. Turk1964 (Later Seleucid post 166BC) 42/40

A close game which was matched evenly all the way through. Seleucids broke the Bosporan left but were hampered by rocky terrain. Bosporans withdrew their centre in the face of strong pike and Cataphracts but had overwhelming strength on the right wing where their HF and MF made good use of terrain and favourable match ups to tear up the Seleucids. The capture of the Seleucid camp clinched the win.

Thanks for the game Turk.

kmaher (Pyrhhic in Italy) 39/44 vs. Brenmusik (Pyrhhic in Greece) 46/44

A tough close battle fought on a open plain saw the Pyrrhic in Italy army eventually defeat its Greek cousins. A tale of two flanks where my veteran heavy cav on my right flank managed to overrun its slightly weaker opponents while my MF on my left flank decided they didn't like the look of the hoplites and Galatians opposite and decide to play a game of 'catch me if you can'. The main action when our two Phalanxes collided was brutal but ultimately even. A mid game breakthrough by the Italian Pyrrhics suggested that victory would be swift but the Greeks Pyrrhics refused to accept defeat and fragmented groups held their ground while they worked their way through my crumbling line. The Greeks finally "out-routed" the Pyrrhic Italians but at great cost....... a very Pyrrhic victory indeed.

A fun game, thanks Brenmusik

Jonathan4290 (Numidian Juba) 9/46 win
vs
Supervark (Gallic Early Lowland) 51/46 loss

Numidians and Roman allies held the high ground and never lost it despite waves of Gallic impact foot. Numidia's Roman allies won the day in the center while the actual Numidians on the wings kept out of trouble.

Flatsix518 (Later Macedonians) 23/42 win
vs
Uheng1997 (Parthians) 41/37 loss

Fighting the Parthians is a lot like herding cats.

I crack myself up sometimes. ;-)

Y'all -

Bagration over Solly. 26/38 to 47/47

A brutal fight with a large patch of impassable terrain in the center. Pergamenes divided their army and allowed the Romans to fight on two distinct narrow fronts with interior lines. In the end, the Romans were able to hang on. Brutal fight and a worthy opponent. Well-played, Solly.

Apologies for the delay. I've been busy helping to get LoEG season 10 off the ground.

Cheers -

batesmotel (Bosporan(mid)) 37/50
morbio (Later Carthaginian in Africa) 53/51

A hard fought battle that turned on whether the Bosporans could break out between a steep hill and the edge of the board before the Carthaginian elephants and superior spearmen could beat the Bosporan right flank and center. Morbio, thanks for a great game.
