Not at the moment, Federico. There will be other competitions, no doubt.Fedem wrote: Would you like a rematch?

Re: Festival of Pike, a small late medieval tournament
So, Round 1 is done and dusted. The two top seeds have done what comes naturally to them and they top their respective group tables. The draw between the Burgundians and the French leaves the race for Group A's second place still wide open. Group B also has everything to play for.
I'll set up my second round match against Sultan Turk1964 tomorrow as I'm a bit hungover today. The password will be: pike

Nope he got me good.
Pete won initiatve and had quite probably the perfect map for his archers and crossbow to dominate.
On top of that he played exceptionally well.

You are not invincible then! It's like when the United States beat England at the 1950 World Cup 1-0. The newspapers apparently thought there'd been an error in the dispatch report and printed it as 10-1 to the English.
Well, congratulations to Lord Pete of Stockwell then for that is a great victory - the result of the tournament so far.

Thanks Eric. It was a very exciting contest. And it certainly makes the struggle for second place in Group A very interesting now.ericdoman1 wrote:Nope he got me good.

Re: Festival of Pike, a small late medieval tournament
The courts of Europe continue to reverberate following the news of yesterday's bombshell. Somewhere, the Prince of Denmark sits with the skull of Yorick searching for meaning, while in the House of Valois the party continues with much champagne and ferrero rocher had by all. Some might argue that the result was as significant as the Magna Carta, proving that King Eric has no Divine Right to mete destruction on his fellow human beings with impunity.
The Swiss vs Venetians match is under way, so here's a reminder that the other two Round 2 games are Fedem vs fogman and Tiavals vs solly.

Re: Festival of Pike, a small late medieval tournament
Another Round 2 result from the battle between my Venetians and Sultan Turk1964's Swiss.
It was a tale of two hills: one man with a hill trying to take another man's hill and that man not allowing the other man to take his hill. The battle went the full 24 turns and ended in the middle of a mighty melee. It finished as a draw but would have ended in a victory for one of us, or a score draw, if allowed to continue for a few turns more. I'm not that disappointed with a draw since Swiss armies are a bit of a bogey opponent of mine. Was an epic, tense, tactical battle and means that neither the Turkish Sultan or I have secured our place in the knockout stage yet.
Swiss 30/40 vs Venetian 28/43. Thanks for the game, Turk1964!

Re: Festival of Pike, a small late medieval tournament
Germans 15/41 vs Burgundians 40/39
Fedem had initiative and posted his troops on a big wooded hill. He may have thought he could pin my pikes down with his archers behind a river, so he marched them out onto the plain. But I crossed quickly and a swarm of medium foot and cavalry caught them.
Thanks for the game Fedem. I'm afraid you may have underestimated your humble opponent.

Never underestimate Baron Fogman - do so at your peril! Comte Fedem needed a result and looks to have gone bold in his strategy, without it paying off this time. A very interesting result which means Group A is wide, wide open with no-one having qualified for the knockout yet. I think all Group A players can still theoretically qualify, which will make the final group games very interesting indeed!

Re: Festival of Pike, a small late medieval tournament
it's 0-0 between fogman and stockwellpete. we have agreed to a tie. he picked a defensive position on a 3 level hill that runs the whole length of the map with impassable terrain at either end. and it's almost all shrub and rocks. the pikes will go have to fight at -2. and the leading units will be subjected to two lines of archers. impossible to fight in these conditions. the result does nothing for me but i'm not going to waste a perfectly good army.

That result means Lord Pete of Stockwell has made it through to the knockout stages. Congratulations! Baron Fogman will have to hope that Comte Fedem defeats King Eric.
