kronenblatt attacks Armchairbaron using the army of Parthyaia with Kyrenean Greek allies. Attacker satrapy Parthyaia, defender satrapy Karmania. Middle-Eastern Plain (fallback).
A small query about the allies 'rules here:

The controller of satrapy Parthyaia cannot call any allies. Or because you control Aigyptio, you can call your Kyrenean Greeks allies to attach them to your Parthyaian army.

Huh, that hadn't occurred to me. Personally, I interpreted that as only the controller of (for example) Makedonia can call in Illyrians as allies for the army of Makedonia.

Now I'm curious to see if you can use any allies you have access to with any army of any satrapy you control......

The latter, i.e., because I control Aigyptos, I can call Kyrenean Greeks allies to attach them to my Parthyaian army. The attacker satrapy or the main army used in the attack has nothing to do with this, just which satrapies the attacker controls.

Using allies in this way is applicable for defenders too (but they must as main army use the army of the defender satrapy).

  • Allies may only be selected by players controlling certain satrapies.
  • The attacker can select any army (and available allies) from his own controlled satrapies.
  • The defender can only select the army of the defender satrapy but can select allies available from his own controlled satrapies.

Wait, defenders can use allies too? Definitely missed that too. When should defenders declare allies during the attack declaration process? Fortunately we have relatively few things to declare/prepare, so not overly difficult to message a bit to confirm things.

Yes, defenders can use allies to the same extent as attackers. And they don’t need to declare that because it’s enough that they merely set up the games with their desired allies. (Defenders set up the games.)

OK, so we'll close the opportunity for attack declarations now and leave it at those made in time.

  3. kronenblatt attacks Armchairbaron using the army of Parthyaia with Kyrenean Greek allies. Attacker satrapy Parthyaia, defender satrapy Karmania. Middle-Eastern Plain (fallback).
Map II
  1. tyronec attacks Aetius39 using the army of Aigyptos and Kyrenean Greek allies. Attacker satrapy Babylonia, defender satrapy Persis. Middle-Eastern Agricultural (fallback)..
  2. Aetius39 attacks Rosedelio using the army of Gedrosia. Attacker satrapy Gedrosia, defender satrapy Indike. Tropical (agreed).

  4. Rosedelio attacks Geffalrus using the army of Baktriane. Attacker satrapy Media, defender satrapy Atropatene. Middle-Eastern Plain (fallback).
Setting up the battles
  • Battles are fought using the Dividing the Spoils v4 module and the armies therein (make sure that you've downloaded version 4 of the DiSp2 module for MP battles, see Technical specifications and preparations in the Rules).
  • The defender creates the challenge (with himself always as Side B) and thereafter sends a PM to the attacker and makes a post in this thread.
  • Module: Dividing the Spoils v4 (click Select another module).
  • Armies:
    • The attacker uses the army that he specified in his attack declaration.
    • The defender uses the army of the defender satrapy, plus any available allies.
  • Scenario: Custom Battle - Open Battle.
  • Force size: Large (1600 FP).
  • Map size: Wide (40x32).
  • Map type: from defender satrapy's available terrains as agreed between the players, otherwise defender satrapy's fallback (see second post of this thread).
  • No map re-rolls are allowed.
  • No use of Heavy Artillery is allowed.
Resolving and reporting the battles
  • Players commit to concluding their battles within an extended holiday break period of 2.5 months, i.e., by August 31 at the latest.
  • Any battles not concluded by then will be resolved by adjudication.
  • The defender reports the outcome of concluded battles in this thread, specifying who won (if any), the casualties, and if any C-in-C's fell during the battle (important since it matters for when tournament will end).
    • Example: Aetius39 beat kronenblatt 48-21, with Aetius 39s C-in-C killed in battle.
For more details, please always look in the Rules.

In case any of you have any questions (which I'm sure you have, no problems :) ), please post them in this thread in order for everyone else to see the question as well as the answer.

Enjoy!

carpenkm attacks ulysisgrunt using the army of Armenia. Attacker satrapy Armenia, defender satrapy Atropatene

carpenkm wins 56-29

A tough battle but the Atropene cav suffered death by arrows while their Pikes made short work of the weaker Armenian inf holding some enclosures. A rough patch in the centre meant that the medium armenian foot could match the pikes and weight of numbers came to be the deciding factor. Tough battle - well played.

Round 3 (318 BC): Map I attack declarations

Post by kronenblatt »

Since Map I’s round 2 is already concluded while no battles in Map II are, we’ll continue with round 3 for Map I, separating the two maps time wise.

Map I: Attack declarations
  1. ulysisgrunt: July 23
  2. Armchairbaron (C-in-C killed): July 24
  3. kronenblatt: July 25
  4. carpenkm: July 26
Please note that:
  • Please feel free to post your attack declaration before the date above as well, but not after.
  • Attack declarations are posted in the campaign thread.
  • Please express attack declarations in the way the following example shows (i.e., specifying both which player you attack, with which army (including any allies), and the attacker and defender satrapies):
    • rbodleyscott attacks kronenblatt using army of Gedrosia and Indian 500 BC - 319 AD allies. Attacker satrapy Babylonia, defender satrapy Mesopotamia.
  • Date (midnight CET+1 (Pella) time) above indicates deadline, after which opportunity for you to declare attack is forfeited and the player next in line may declare his attack.
  • Once you have declared an attack, please PM the player next in line, who will then be free to declare his attack, up to his deadline, so we all don't need to wait for each player's deadline.
  • Rules are found in the third post of the campaign thread.
  • The map and province information in the second post of the campaign thread is also useful.
In case any of you have any questions (which I'm sure you have, no problems :) ), please post them in the campaign thread in order for everyone else to see the question as well as the answer.
