Div 1

Karvon Germanic Horse Tribes w/Dacian Allies defeated phoyle3290 Ptolemaic 41-0 for a 6-0 win.

Battle was joined in an area of gentle rolling hills with a couple of large woods on both flanks of the Greeks. We selected half a dozen light foot, a couple of supporting cavalry and half a dozen lancers. The Ptolemaic force was pike heavy with 3-4 pikes, a warband, 2-3 medium foot and a single lancer and a couple of light foot. The heavy infantry formed up between the two woods with mediums on each flank, the lights screening and the lancers in reserve. Our plan was essentially to attack the supporting troops and avoid the heavy foot as much as possible.

We started by overloading to the right along one of the gentle slopes with our lights pushing forward to hound his supports on his left wing, while the lancers trailed along behind. We managed to destroy his lights, drove off his lancers and encircled the warband with skirmishers. He wheeled his heavies to the counter and pushed aggressively trying to trap us against the left edge. We reversed our lancers and retired safely out of range and then swung wide back around to our far left. In the meantime our lights destroyed the warband and finished off the lancers with missile fire. We started stalking his medium foot, though our ammo was running low. Our lancers and supporting horse formed a half-circle around the pikes and surviving mediums while the lights continued to pelt the mediums with fire. We eventually disrupted and destroyed those and the pikes attempted to run over our lancers and one got disrupted and another pinned in combat. This opened them to flanking by other horse and these both were broken shortly leading to the final collapse of the Ptolemaic army.

As always a delight and entertaining to read your battle reports, Karvon! I'm neutral of course, but from the perspective of battle reports it's nice when when you win.
