Just a reminder...Please remove me from the Axis Thread area and put me into the Allies. :)
Oh yah...If we both update to the new maps and such when there ready...will our current game still play out ok in its state?? I hope so...this is an interesting game.

Hey Mike,

Thx for the private threads reminder. You're now off the Axis, and onto the Allies.

Yeah, let's play it out. With teams balanced like this, it's setup to get some awesome battles in.

So long as I keep scenario name the same, I believe we can continue...

Another update on Hillman. The Brits report Monty was seen behind the lines there last turn, giving encouragement to keep "wading in".
The 88's are a bear over there, with big fields of fire. The boys are doing what they can, but it seems inevitable they will need to retire with their work incomplete, and the 7/3cdn will need to come on over to lend a hand.

Couple more turns played last night, sorry for the slow-going Al. Will resume tonight as usual, we're about 5-6 turns away from end-game in Hillman.

Battle Previews - June 7th PM

CAEN: 6al/6 (AMR+) ME v Ost/411/716 (P-)
Messy urban environment, dominated by a castle, with a port at its heart. Infantry/scouts/recon essential. To win here you need to train in cities, eg. Ortona.

VIMONT: 125/21Pz AFD v 3/6ab (MR)
VILLERS-BOCAGE: 192/21Pz v 5al/6 (MR)

Both of these are deceptive. At first glance they appear to be open, tank country, and indeed they are, but there are lots of trees and cornfields to hide in, plus scattered stony river fords, dune grass, and rough ground in fields, where anything, from a piat to a 17pdr, can sit and wait in secret. Played well, these can go either way. Played aggressively, you'll get a battering as Allies or as Germans.

HILLMAN BATTERY: 7/3cdn (N) AFD v II/726/716 (AMRP-) [this one's tbc pending what happens during June 7th AM?]
Modelled somewhat close to reality, these 152mm coastal batteries were actually taken from behind in WW2. So Hillman should be a tough ask when it's assaulted from the front, but the Allies benefit from their devastating Naval Artillery and II/726/716 may have been weakened by a prior attack during June 7th AM.

Explanation of bonuses that were allocated:
A=Arty, N=Naval Arty, M=Medic, R=Rally, P=Promote, +=Air-landing so scattered on arrival, -=Out of supply morale penalty

Gents, Here are the battles which look likely to happen next.
Since many players are new, I've also given a flavour of what to expect where.
To help with assigning (volunteering? ;-)) for the maps...
Good luck all!

Guys,

A couple of you have asked me if it's ok to play some of the maps that you might be playing June 7th PM (in fact somebody actually challenged me on theirs, which is v cool btw!).

To clarify for everyone, there's nothing in the rules that says you can't play maps. And there never will be anything in the rules to stop anyone playing.

There has been a sort of honour code that said we won't pre-play our maps with the exact units we will be fighting with/against. To be honest, I haven't monitored that and I'm not about to start. What the honour code meant in practice is that other guys from the same team would play a map and then feedback everything clever to do and everything to be aware of... which, with players of your high standards, was pretty much the same as playing the darned map...

What I'd suggest is by all means go ahead and experiment on maps... Everyone has the same right to do so if they want to... Because force selection and deployment is fully flexible, no two games should be exactly alike anyway... And each new day's campaign will be uploaded at the same time for everyone, so nobody will benefit from an unfair advantage (although if you're stalling before you start, you're sure to get complaints! ;-)).

New GJS'44 maps are there for us (and for everyone else) to enjoy, so please go ahead and enjoy 'em...

I've updated the Order of Battle for both teams here -> http://bit.ly/BA88gjs44oob
It's a downloadable Excel spreadsheet so you can easily investigate, if that sort of thing gets your goat.
Allies have a 1.3-to-1 unit advantage based on the nearly 1,800 units still in play (or yet to arrive).
So nothing set in stone... Everything to play for!

Yep. I have Clary's book, From the Holocaust to Hogan's Heroes. Very inspiring and interesting...

Just found a post that Werner Klemperer (Klink), John Banner (Schultz), and Howard Caine (Hochstetter) were also Jewish. It also states that Klemperer, Banner, nad Caine all serverd in the US Army! Werner Klemperer insisted that Hogan always win over his Nazi captors or else he would not take the part of Klink.

Sorry for the OT posts...
