Weekly round-up
Things are moving very slowly in Division A at the moment, but pantherboy (Bretons) is the new leader with 5 straight wins. Triarii (Arab Bedouin), dkalenda (Huns Sabir) and ruskicanuk (Arab City) still have a chance to win this division as there are still many matches to be completed. melm (Sassanid Persians) took the automatic promotion place in Division B this week by winning his last 2 matches. 2 wins for Morbio sees him move away from the bottom of the table so either ggarynorman (Byzantines) or gamercb (Franks) will fill the relegation place this season. The main focus in Division C is now focused around the struggle to avoid the wooden spoon. A first win for mkjhartmann (Scots-Irish) moves him off the bottom of the table, but it is still very close with desertedfox (Franks), garymann (Ostrogoths) and MikeMUC (Arab City) being the other players involved.

Unbeaten runs of 3 matches or more
dkalenda (Division A) 3 matches
pantherboy (Division A) 5 matches
Triarii (Division A) 6 matches
Morbio (Division B) 3 matches

Match completion rate (45 matches in total to be played in each division)
Division A - 27 out of 45 matches completed :(
Division B - 42 out of 45 matches completed :D
Division C - 39 out of 45 matches completed :D
Division A is very slow, Divisions B and C are excellent.

Player of the week
melm (Division B) who won promotion to the top tier this week. :D

Weekly round-up
For the second week running a quiet week all round in the Biblical section. Nothing to report in Division A; the most noticeable event in Division B was 2 wins for Morbio (Thracians) that takes him off the bottom of the table. The situation at the top of this division is that Jagger2002 (Carthaginians) needs to win his last 3 matches to prevent XLegione (Phoenicians) from winning automatic promotion. In Division C the only issue remaining to be decided is who gets the wooden spoon out of General Shapur (Spartans), Barrold713 (Babylonians) and gamercb (Thracians).

Unbeaten runs of 3 matches or more
ianiow (Division A) 5 matches
klayeckles (Division A) 3 matches

Match completion rate (45 matches in total to be played in each division)
Division A - 30 out of 45 matches completed :(
Division B - 35 out of 45 matches completed :D
Division C - 37 out of 45 matches completed :D
Division A is slow, Divisions B and C are good.

Player of the week
Morbio (Division b) with 2 wins this week. :D

Re: Poll on trialling the use of larger armies.

Post by stockwellpete »

This poll is now closed. There is clearly considerable support for the idea of a trial with bigger armies next season. It is certainly far more than the 40% threshold I had in mind when I first set up the poll. Also, 1600 pt armies were clearly preferred to 2000 pt armies so in Season 5, we will trial 1600 pt armies, probably in either the Late Antiquity or Early Middle Ages sections. The poll also tells us that a significant minority of players would stop playing in the FOG2DL if there was an across-the-board introduction of larger armies, so this will not be happening. If the trial is successful, then the plan is to rotate the use of larger 1600 pt armies through the competition from Season 6.

Just 8 days left now!

Post by stockwellpete »

There are three weeks left in the tournament so players should be thinking about starting their remaining matches this week. Please remember that in the FOG2DL it is expected that players complete all their matches and there may be restrictions imposed in forthcoming seasons on those players who do not. If you have any problems contacting an opponent please let me know. In matches where your opponent has not moved for 7 days without explanation, the rules allow you to claim those matches using the in-game facility for dealing with stalled matches.

Div B

melm(Sassanid Perisan) beat Morbio(Lombards) 67-36

A very nice and enjoyable game. My horse archers fall to the ambush of Lombards skirmisher. Volleys after volleys of arrows almost kill all my riders. Three elephants in the center have chain break and my two cataphracts are routed by lancers, which almost gives me heartbreak. However, one elephant rallying is painful for Morbio. And he also has one undesirable pursue. Finally my counter-attack with my mix formation of survived elephants and foots succeeds and earns some percent back.

Division D for Dogged

Barrold713 (Jewish Revolt) defeats Herode_2 (Kingdom of Soissons) 71-59

A truly fierce struggle where both of our left flanks disappeared leaving a brutal fight in the center as both sides converged to try and take advantage. The colorful bathrobes of zealotry managed to hang on long enough to wear down their opponents and finally win the day. The post battle buffet is to be poorly attended to be sure.

Hey mate the Syracusan 550-461 army is definitely there, I'm wondering if you might not have had the TT mod activated when you set up the game?

Maybe we could vote on which Era we try out the larger armies in? I, for one, am kind of curious to see how a pike army would do with larger settings since unit paucity seems the most extreme for them.

I don't think that is really necessary and I would prefer to use the polls sparingly. You can always try out 1600 pt pike armies in a few friendlies.
