Hello,

fine, the upload is active, thanks.

So please check the new units (page 34, Decima MAS) for Italian duty. Feedback welcome. Anything to change or wishes?

And finally the last possible Decima MAS unit type:

The MTM "Barchino" was a touring boat modified by the Italian Navy to be run into the sides of enemy vessels at the water line and explode, either sinking or severely damaging them. This was not a suicide boat as the operators ejected themselves off the back of the boat just before impact.
The wooden hull was powered by a 90 hp Alfa Romeo 6C 2500, six-cylinder inboard engine, turning counter-rotating propellers, giving a maximum speed of 33 knots for 3 hours. A tube frame (“palmola”), located over the bow deck was designed to trigger an explosive device (“cannone” gun), which split the hull in two at the moment of impact. The bow section would then sink rapidly, and a depth-sensing detonator activated the 300 to 330 kg main charge a few meters underwater.
The M.T.M. prototype was successfully tested on March 1st, 1941, but it was the earlier MT that gave this type of craft it’s baptism of fire a few days later. On the night between March 25th and 26th, six M.T.’s were carried off of the island of Crete aboard the destroyers RN Crispi and RN Sella and at dawn made their way past the defenses of Suda Bay, Three boats attacked successfully, sinking the cruiser HMS York and the tanker Pericles. All the operators survived and were captured. In May 1942, five M.T.M.’s were deployed to the Black Sea, but had little success before returning to Italy in March 1943. Between August and September 1942, the M.T.M’s were in action in North African waters, but again with no results.
After the Armistice, production continued in the Repubblica Sociale Italiana. The earliest attacks were carried out by the Decima Flottiglia MAS against Allied shipping in Napoli and Anzio, but the unit soon moved north, operating along the coastline of Provence and Liguria. The most significant action resulted in the heavy damaging of the French destroyer Trombe in min-April 1945. The final operation took place a few days before the end of the war in Europe.

Hello to all!

Here is an information request for all the knowledgeable people round here... i just finished reading a small book about the invasion of the Iwo Jima island by U.S. troops and found an interesting photo of a multiple rocket launcher mounted on a light, four wheeled truck... It would be a nice project to make an icon out of it... The books only mentions that it was a 114 mm rocket launcher... In This book is also mentioned that the US Marines used 182 mm rocket artillery... Anyone has good info about those weapon systems?

Here I attach the photo I saw in the book. ---> Well, may be not, because the board system will not allow me to do that... Sorry :-)
I will upload it later if it can be done...
By the way the same photo can be seen in the wikipedia, here is the link:

Thanks!

Hello Guille, I know what this is but I have to dig around my hard drive for info. These were only used late in the war by the USMC (US Marines), the launcher could be mounted on jeeps as well. The wikipedia picture is very poor, here's a better one:

I have even seen a movie of this thing in action somewhere, I will try to dig it up, in the meanwhile I have this little pdf for you:

Guille
Have you or anyone else ever done 'Fallschirmjaeger Pionier'.? useful for early war scenarios.
If so, I would love to have them.

More news on the rocket truck: I've found the footage, and a walkaround photo page. They were first used during the Battle for Saipan, by the USMC. The US Army used a different type of launcher. (T27 or T32 on truck)

Hello stan23,

like the Mine Pioniere and finally also the new Italian paratrooper (see also the new layouts in the pimp thread) we need a little explanation about your special request "Fallschirmjäger Pioniere". You know, member wishes are the most fun for us to make it real.

So if i think about the special paratrooper missions from Eben Emael to Crete 1940/41 there could be a mixed version from the Paras and the Engineers. That means we have heavy weapon equipped (german?) paratroopers with weapons like: flamethrower, explosive charges or mines (against tanks or bunkers?) and special tools like a wire scissors. Thats it?

Hi Asuser
Yes, I was thinking that the new 'Fallschirmjaeger Pioniere' icon must naturally be German soldiers and that one soldier should have a have a flamethrower (because IMHO the flamethrower is the iconic weapon of the Pioniere AND I like the EFX). I also like the new standing Italian Light Paratrooper with explosive charge (perhaps a German version?).. And to clearly define these soldiers as Fallschirmjaeger, they should of course, have a parachute. I particularly like the 'half parachute' of the new Italian Paratroopers. :D
One comment about the vanilla pioneer-does anyone else think its odd that the flamethrower soldier is not wearing a helmet? I dunno, probably just me, but I'm not sure wearing something flammable on your head during a flamethrower assault is a good idea :? Anyhow...
I was also thinking that maybe there should be UK and US parachute engineers for later war scenarios.
And I just want to thank you, Guille and the rest of the icon mod talents out there who do these icons for the community, you guys rock 8)
Greetings from Virginia

Here is a new unit release: The Sturm Infanterie Geschütz (SturmIG) 33B...
This icon started as a creation from Flakfernrohr (where are you, pal?), was worked by me and after that, Asuser gave it the final detailing... Look at the sagging upper tracks, tools, the linkage between the gun barrel and recuperator assembly... A lot of very good fine details! The result is very good, in my opinion...
It comes in the now customary camo variants assortment and, of course in direct and indirect fire variants.
I hope you like it!

Well, as there is a lot of activity in the Italian front, thanks to Nikivdd outstanding work, here is an unit which is updated (because I have uploaded it before), with new camo schemes... The Semovente da 90/53, a unit I would highly recomend to any player to have in its army :-)
The unit is available in direct and indirect fire mode, and with two new camo skins for the italians: a SE desert scheme, and an SE European one. The base icons, masks and icons are all included in the package... The two new skins will be uploaded in next posting...

I remember that this powerful unit was very useful for the Italian forces when fighting against the British under my command! :-)

Hello Guille,

great package of new/updated icons! Additonal idea for the Semovente vehicles: There was also a big fat type with the da 149/40 gun. I read that this one was a late war/prototype weapon? Could also built up for the Italian arsenal...

Some more Italian units for Nikivdd Roma Victor mod and for all who want to fight with the axis troops:

1.Italian Frogman from Decima MAS troops as a special command unit for secret tasks:
ItaFrogman_MAS.png
ItaFrogman_MAS.png (23.06 KiB) Viewed 5521 times

2.Italian Manned Torpedo SLC Maiale also from DMAS troops as a support anti ship command (use as a submarine or kamikaze unit)
SLC_Maiale.png
SLC_Maiale.png (33.13 KiB) Viewed 5521 times

3.Italian Explosive MTM Boat also from the DMAS as a counterattack/anti ship unit (eventually use as a kamikaze unit)
MTM_Boat.png
MTM_Boat.png (50.21 KiB) Viewed 5521 times

The values for the eqp and efx file could be connect to the light infantry (1), submarine (2) and speed boat (3) but with less ammo and range values. So here we could think a little about it.

And that's not all...there are more Italian units to come...

Greetings!
