Re: TDC IV BRONZE AND IRON AGE 2500BC TO 701BC - Challenges
Good morning
I am temporarily replacing Carpenkm in this death group (A).
I have chosen Urartu 780-750 BC, with no allies.
Should I set up for everyone to play in group A, or should you set up and I join?
Sorry, but I've never played in a tournament like this and I don't understand everything yet, and I want this to be done fairly quickly and efficiently.
Greetings

tyronec (Sicilian) defeats markleslie (Anglo-Norman) 48-4
This was a slightly odd battle. After some manoeuvring the armies ended up facing off with the northern Normans on a big hill and the southern Normans on a slightly smaller hill. There was no way I could attack against a mass of Welsh medium foot on rough uphill terrain and the game was looking like a no score draw. However my opponent decided to give it a go and with the hill advantage and a bit of luck it was the southern Normans who won out,

Alexmike1 Seleucid 301-302BC with Lysimachid allies beat hscic Roman 219-200 BC with Pergamene 262-191 BC allies 46-20.
A few turns of manoeuvring left the main body of both forces facing off across a narrow valley running vertically. The extra cavalry of the Seleucids gave them enough mobility to get round the back of the opposing hill and win before their crumbling left flank gave way completely.
Thanks again for the game.

SawyerK leading the Palmyran 258-273 AD army
narrowly defeated IMC and his Khazar 568-737 AD army
by 65 to 55.
The map contained extensive swaths of rough ground which the Palmyrans seeded with Massed Archers. The Palmyrans tried to extend their LF to a smooth hill in an attempt to flank the Khazars but found the effort eradicated by arrow fire and successive cavalry charges. That gave the Khazars a significant early lead but the Palmyrans unleashed a withering arrow attack whenever the Khazar forces approached the rough area and slowly got back into the game. Both armies attempted to control and attack from the smooth hill and the second effort by the Palmyrans, which was led by Legionnaires and Cataphracts, was more successful but still resulted in painful losses from the Khazar Noble Lancers. In the end, both armies were exhausted and nightfall two turns away when Palmyran Legionnaires and Auxiliary units trapped two Noble Lancers and managed to defeat them for the win. My thanks to IMC for a well fought game.

Two results
Triarii Assyrian with Neo-Hittite defeats ianiow Arabs 70-40.
The Assyrians managed to gain the advantage of higher ground which the Arabs had to attack or continue to suffer under the hail of arrows. The ground and arrows just gave enough advantage to the Assyrian foot to enable them to hold off and beat the hordes of Arab foot before too many auto-breaks from the attrition.
Triarii Assyrian with Neo-Hittite defeats IMC Neo-Hittites with Hebrew 40-9.
The Assyrians deployed and advanced in echelon with the left refused and cavalry and a large number of skirmishers to their right. The Neo-Hittite left-centre suffered badly from concentrated missile fire and was overwhelmed before the right could reach the Assyrians.

The Dabuyid took heavy losses from the Indian elephants and archers, but there were enough Dailami foot that the elephants could get flanked and the archers got impacted.

You can issue challenges yourself. Have a look at first post to see your opponents armies and army points etc.
Cheers

Stew101 Spanish with Iberian allies defeats markleslie Roman 425-492 AD + Germanic Foot Tribes 260-599 AD
Score 56 - 31 %.
A good game, with the resilience and greater numbers of the Spanish being the deciding factor. They won the infantry battle and held long enough against the Roman lancers.

Stones1985 (Macedonians with Greek allies) beat angusosborne (Carthaginians with Campanian allies) by a score of 61 to 42.
A close match where after the first infantry clash things were pretty even. There was then a pause while both sides regrouped for the second phase. The Macedonians started to get the edge in the skirmishing duels and flank cavalry battles and took great delight in taking out all the Carthaginian generals. Although the second phase infantry duels were a bit of a stalemate the Macedonians had done enough elsewhere to secure victory.
Thanks for a good game Angus.
