This was an intense battle between superior-grade Roman troops that resulted in breakthroughs followed by opportunistic flank attacks by both armies. The key factor in the later age Roman win was their success in bringing heavy cavalry to bear on flank attacks against their opponent's main battle line. My compliments to hscic for a well-fought battle.

Lots of initial marching and skirmishing until it became tiring, at which point the Libyan impact foot proved to have absolutely no impact on contact and the situation looked to be precarious. Fortunately the enemy foot chose this moment to attack said impact foot and promptly exploded most satisfyingly, immolating a couple of his compatriots in the process. Rapidly things fell apart, the center could not hold etc.

I salute my very shooty opponent!

central hill with flats to either side. in pretty straight up fight, heavy weapons irish took out viking spears , then with break in the line, swarmed enough housecarls to win....viking horse neutralized by just too many irish kerns
