Pool A, Group B, Bouvines
Epicouros (French) 45/52 beat Demetrios (Angevin Alliance) 63/58.
A bloody affair, with lots of losses and routing on both sides. Luckily, the Angevin army broke shortly before the French army would have collapsed itself. As a consolation prize, the Angevins made off with the French supplies, although they had to leave the body of emperor Otto behind on the field.

A win for IMC (Highlanders) 35/46 v bperezdelema (Aragonese) 36/36
Very close affair with the Argonese taking an early lead. However, the tough, and many, Scot's clawed it back bit by bit to scrape a narrow win in the end......
Thanks for the game.

Div. B
Epicouros (Early North African Fatimids) 26/33 beat ricoual74 (Italian Ostrogoths) 35/33.
A very close battle between two very similar armies, both in size and composition: armoured lancers and defensive spears. The main difference was the Fatimid light troops were mainly light horse, while the Ostrogoths had light foot archers bolstered by some medium foot bowmen.
The Ostrogoths managed to eat away at the Fatimid right flank in the beginning, while the Fatimids were making progress (too) slowly on their left. The cavalry fights in the center largely (and luckily) went to the Fatimids though, enabling them to send much needed reinforcements to their right. In the meantime, one of the Fatimid light horse units managed to plunder the Ostrogoth camp while another chased away an Ostrogoth skirmisher attempting the same thing with the Fatimid camp.
This one really could have gone either way...

Division D
MikeMarchant's Seleucids (28/29) beat Brindlebane's Macedonians (33/32).
A nail biting battle that went right down to the wire. At the end of the day it was the superior mobility of the Seleucids coupled with some favourable luck that decided the result.
Thanks for the game, Paul, a pleasure as always.
Best Wishes
Mike

Divison D
MikeMarchant's Romans (9/34) beat Praeter's Sarmatians (31/30)
Roman discipline and tight formation (with a little luck, of course) managed to hold back the barbarian horse horde, and have persuaded them to go home and have a good wash.
Thanks for the game, Praeter and bad luck.
Best Wishes
