Division C
Ironclad (Germanic Foot Tribes 260-599 AD with Roman allies) defeated Vakarr (Thracian Roman Client 50 BC-46 AD with Roman allies) 41-15
Both sides had terrain features which presented difficulties for an attacker. The Germans commenced with a major advance with their left to take advantage of their decided cavalry superiority and supporting units whilst the remainder of their army moved to their left. The Thracians responded by advancing their centre and left, moving them out of the defensive terrain, to bring their superior numbers to bear.
The conflict continued, with the Germans crushing their opposition on their left reinforced by arriving units which pushed back the enemy centre , whilst the rest of the army held a strong defensive position on a dominant hill which allowed their fewer but individually stronger units there to beat off their more numerous opponents. All credit to Vakarr who opted for a more open battle rather than hunkering down in the opening terrain.

Ironclad (Carthaginian 235-146 BC with Spanish Iberian allies) defeated phlewis (Macedonian 320-261 BC) 61-55
A tough and closely fought battle. The Carthaginians opened by commencing the transfer of their entire cavalry wing from the right to the left flank in order to oppose the enemy cavalry deployed there. This proved critical but it did weaken the Carthaginian right which was facing the main enemy infantry and elephants. The Macedonians took full advantage of this, overwhelming their weaker opposition helped by the flanking effect of their extended and victorious line.
It was a different story on the left centre of the Carthaginians where the main force of Spanish mediums in partly rough terrain were successful in holding and driving back their opponents. The arrival of the Carthaginian cavalry on this wing led to the eventual collapse of the Roman right, despite strong resistance by their cavalry. With the battle on a knife edge the attack of two Carthaginian elephant units (one with a general that had only just fully recovered from fragmented status) succeeeded in swiftly overcoming opposing Macdonian pike formations to achieve victory. Great fight, thanks.

DivB Bagatrix1805 defeated MH5064 by a score of 62-44, a well fought game and very close, trying to catch the mounted fellows when you are on foot proved very difficult, well played MH best of luck the rest of the way.

Alexmike1 Seleucid 301-302BC with Lysimachid allies beat Phlewis Macedonian 320-261 BC 48-22.
A detachment of irregulars and hoplites held a small wooded hill on the Seleucid left against a strong warband/elephant/cavalry combo long enough for the more numerous Seleucid phalanx to triumph against their Macedonian adversaries in the centre, with the assistance of a flank from the right wing cavalry.
Thanks for the game.

Alexmike1 Egyptian 1200-1150BC beat Jtrillodmp Urartians 749-585BC with Cimmerian allies 55-29.
With the Urartian infantry pulling back a strong force of Assyrian and Cimmerian cavalry attempted to expose the ever lengthening Egyptian left flank. Some brave fighting from the outmatched Egyptian chariots eventually allowed the more numerous Egyptian infantry to catch their opposites and swing the day.
Looked to be going the other way until late on. Thanks for an interesting game.
