Actually Nigel, I find the West Sudanese good against mounted armies but less so against heavy foot orientated armies with lots of shooters and regimental guns. Anglo Dutch for example.

I like the army as I can now clone it into a later period dervish.... As long as I avoid bottom place I've had a good comp....marshalney2000 wrote:Actually Nigel, I find the West Sudanese good against mounted armies but less so against heavy foot orientated armies with lots of shooters and regimental guns. Mass mounted, maybe not.
Have been thinking of different ways to annoy the "Ben Jones line of foot" default choice.

Bring the same list and reduce the game to dice feast... Or later swedes with regt guns... Option for more superior foot... Line up and charge... Back to the bar in about an hour.. Either way... Be quick...urbanbunny1 wrote:Mass mounted, maybe not.

Poor Ben. Propelled to the limelight by the AA. That's Alasdairs absence you understand
C'm on Alasdair do a pal a favour - throw you keys in the hat and put PB out of his misery. Britcon wouldnt be the same without you big fellah.

Against Nigel I lost every single one of the fair melees, that is one unit against one unit. Over the 6 games I think I only won two fair melees all weekend, luckily it was a shooty army and my shooty dice where at least average, although a skewed average, 6 hits out of six followed by 6 misses out of six, just the first one was where I really needed it and the second was annoying but not desperate.

Since Christmas I have had two games with outrageous good luck, both have been against Paul, I don't know why my dice gods are so cruel to him in particular.Paulkit0 wrote:No don't go for a dice feast against Ben. Have you seen his die rolling!

I have also had two with outrageous bad luck, both against fellow club members, who both beat me for the first time in a long time

Hmmmm,
Outrageous good luck, I do remember a certain game at the worlds where I dumped almost an entire army on one superior unit..........

Re: Britcon 2015
Firstly, thanks to all of you who replied to our survey about organising an event on Saturday evening of Britcon to run after the games finish. With a massive 92% of you saying that you would were interested in some sort of social event on the Saturday evening, we have been able to convince the Uni bars and catering team to run a
"Beers, Burgers and Bullets"
evening upstairs in the bar onsite in the venue on Saturday evening!
What this means is that we will be offering:
- draft beer,
- "gourmet" burgers and chips (that's "fries" for those of you who live south of Watford)
- other BBQ stuff as well
as well as...
- comfy chairs
- regular tables set up for social gaming
- a couple of "classic" war movies playing on a 60" screen in the corner (almost certainly of the "everyone can 'sing along' with the dialogue" kind!)
Pricing for everything on the menu is yet to be determined, but the Uni have told us that they are able to do a special advance purchase rate of £10 for a gourmet burger, chips and a pint!
This will be bookable in advance or you can pay on Friday when you arrive at the venue - so, let your friends and clubmates know, and start to plan out your full Britcon Weekend with the BHGS !

Re: Britcon 2015
Just noticed a very subtle difference in the wording about artillery for different competitions. In some it is Medium and Heavy Artillery that need 6 Non-Commanded Shot (or Artillery) bases of Foot Battle Troops per base and in some it is just Artillery. Is it intended at Britcon to restrict all Artillery or just Medium and Heavy Artillery?

Re: Britcon 2015
I think that may be a cock up.
I've certainly never seen any need to restrict Light Artillery.
