It would be nice if there was a separate path that had scenarios that simulated you actually winning the war( i.e. you could only access them by winning DV's in certain scenarios and got kicked off the path if you failed on it) but that would be a lot of work.aster wrote:Yup, this IMO was a serious design error in the Grand Campaign expansions - really a killer for both immersion and narrative satisfaction. A mounting challenge is great, but the sense that all your efforts are futile (despite battlefield success greater than historical) and that everything winds up the same just makes it feel, well.... boring. Strange design choice in an otherwise fantastic game.joe6778 wrote:I have excellent units and leader bonuses, but no matter how many Russian units I destroy, more powerful units just keep coming. Every battle turns into a grueling slugfest.
Nothing I do in the current or prior campaigns/scenarios has any effect on Russian production, nor does it alter the ultimate outcome of the Campaign.

True enough, but unless I'm mistaken, in a sandstorm all units should spot only adjacent units (with the exception of forts and minefields that remain spotted once seen).Tarrak wrote:Quite often the fort see your units way before you even spotted it's presence.
It's happened often enough to be confident I'm not imagining things and that I didn't miss a unit moving away from contact (as in that case the AI knows I'm there for the rest of the turn). Fortunately it is rare enough to be a puzzling curiosity rather than a problem.

I must admit i am not sure about the exact visibility rules in sandstorm and i never noticed such behavior but of course this just may mean i a wasn't looking hard enough. I am not excluding the possibility of it being bugged. All i meant is that the AI is not cheating on visibility all the time or by purpose.

Strange...
Are you absolutely sure that the AI didn't have the first turn?
Often, when I get attacked 'out of nowhere' it is due to the fact that the AI has the first turn and suddenly the weather turns favourable at the start of the next round. There are several AK scenarios that give the AI the first turn, and I started to be a bit more careful during those scenarios (Brevity, Battleaxe & Second Offensive)
This weather change usually doesn't show for me on the interface properly until the AI has made a few moves. So it appear my units still spot only 1 hex during part of the AI turn while the weather is actually clear, which might be what you are experiencing, but that is just guessing.
Some extra info: airplanes can't spot during sandstorms/snow, but they can be spotted by other units.

It also depends on what version Panzer Corps is updated to. In some of the older versions (the one that AK is by default), the mines had a glitch/problem with spotting (particularly in sandstorms) that was fixed in later patches.Tarrak wrote:I must admit i am not sure about the exact visibility rules in sandstorm and i never noticed such behavior but of course this just may mean i a wasn't looking hard enough.
