Re: Kaiserschlacht - World War I (Shell Beta Released!)

Post by BiteNibbleChomp »

using a 3ds to post this:

Mostly I've been thinking about War of the World, which is being patched in about 2 weeks. After that I will do Brusilov and Romania, and then the really cool 1917-8 scenarios!
I must tell you that my disappearance isn't a reason to stop posting - I hope to see more on Saturday.

Anyone beat Paris '14 yet? I will make Paris '18 harder (just like Moscow '41 to '43) so you may want some practice.

I suggest nerfing lots of regular PzC strongpoint, and or fortifications by some degree. Artillery should also be some what more powerful as well. Do you plan on using Railway Artillery units? And I hope to see some elite Stormtroopers as well! Don't forget American forces as well. And commonwealth troops (Canadian, Australian, Indian etc...) also any Naval scenarios? I'd love to play the Battle of Jutland and how UK 18 will play out. How about getting ballsy with America 1919 or Soviet Union 1919? (Player Choice) also add some African Scenarios, such as German resistance in African Colonies and the German expeditionary force in Baghdad and Syria. Maybe even an Egypt 18 or Persia 18? West Africa 14 should be interesting. And last but not least some Far East scenarios where you defend New Guinea and Chinese Colonies from Japanese Invasions! Also you should really focus more on the Eastern Front a bit. Tannenburg is a must.

Here is a list if some good scenarios

Tannenburg 14

Poland 15

Baltic States/Riga 16

St. Peter'sburg 17 (DV at Riga)

Soviet Union/ Moscow 19 (DV at UK 18 [choice])

OR should you get either a. Fail at Poland or b. Fail at Tannenburg,

Fight the Russians in Austria-Hungry and defend your Ally.

DVs here should lead to a (possible) attack at Kiev and Crimea (Sevestapol)

Thoughts?

Also since I rock a iPad PzC, could you perhaps record a battle (if you have the time)

Interesting thoughts, but many of those are already there or wouldn't work with the campaign.
Poland 15 is already in the campaign, in case you didn't notice.
Petersburg is going to be part of the Estonian scenario in late 17.
I couldn't add Tannenburg because the campaign starts in the west (to allow for Paris 14), but did think of it.
The USSR was Germany's friend until Hitler came along, so that seems too unrealistic, and landing craft wasn't great enough to handle the atlantic in 1918-9, so USA is out as well (I don't consider Uk18 too realistic either)

Stormtroops are in 1918, in scenarios not yet made!

*Friend* isn't a very accurate word, as really the Germans only needed the soviets to sign the peace deal and take all of Ukraine. The Germans could have easily taken the rest of Russia but they need the troops on the Western front pretty badly. How about my idea of a larger African conflict?

But I hope to see some Ukraine scenarios where you support a failing Austria Hungry!

I don't see why they would go that far in destroying Tsarist Russia over 50ish divisions. Makes more sense that they supported the communist régime, and then once that was friendly towards them, they moved the troops. What was stopping a renewed Russia from turning against Germany?

Western Africa probably wouldn't work in the campaign, same as Tsingtao in China, considering that your forces are in the Western Front from August until October 1914. After that, the battles in those regions were decided anyway. Tsingtao fell in Nov-Dec 14, and West Africa in December.

If you can, it would be more fun to download my beta that has the first 10 scenarios, but I heard the iPad doesn't do mods, so you will only be able to play it on PC. I will probably video some gameplays once the final 13 scenarios are done (when I release the full mod)

Save that for "Panzer Corps WWI: Ottoman Corps", where you fight in the mesopotamian and egyptian deserts. (not an official announcement)

Excited about Cambrai? That scenario will be death, but you get some nice British Tanks at the end.

If people are interested I can upload a version of the beta campaign that uses the Brusilov Offensive instead of the Somme scenario. When it is done, the 2 scenarios will be a choice (If Paris 14 wasn't DV'd). Also been given the go-ahead by the Strategic Command 2 team to use a few sounds for the WWI aircraft, so I will attempt to release a full beta of 11 scenarios. Any forums that tell you how to add choice events?

Tanks were used in September 1916, as part of the Somme. My Somme scenario only goes as far as mid-August however. Mk I s were used even earlier (Little Willie in something like the Loos Offensive 1915). Cambrai is the first scenario with lots of tanks, but those are mostly Mk IVs

Re: WWI - Shell Beta with Brusilov Offensive released!

Post by BiteNibbleChomp »

I have now got the Brusilov Offensive Scenario ready for the beta (been playing lots of Civilization for the past week). To set this up, rename the files "WWIsomme.pz###" with ### representing scn or loc (do this for both files), and then place them in the PzC World War I / Data folder, then replace the somme scenario.

An extended beta will be ready soon to see tanks and a bunch of other things. This will be the FULL beta, as I will now have the WWI aircraft sounds and choice events set up, in addition to the campaign lasting until Arras 17 (and possibly an early version of Uk18 - no promises though!)

Enjoy, BNC

Made the Arras 17 yesterday - first WWI tanks in the campaign! Only 2, but do you really want to fight Cambrai's 20+? Caporetto and Estonia will be ready soon.

Estonia will involve Communism taking over Petrograd while Germans arrive from the Baltic States - prepare to bring ruin to Russia.

Hoping for a release aroud March 15 - this is not confirmed yet though.

I should have screens of the Estonia Scenario ready tomorrow. Russia will finally fall (this is our attack to replicate the enormous damage seen in Brusilov, only with a Central Powers Victory)!

For anyone who is stuck in the beta, here are some tips:

 Cavalry are cheap bait, use them to draw the enemy away.
 Barbed Wire is a nuisance - get in some minesweepers. Suddenly, your day is easy-going!
 Tanks are nasty - wait for them to use all of their very limited supply
 Escape Hexes are useful for saving good units - use them if needed.
 PREPARE TO LOSE IN BRUSILOV OFFENSIVE (no, seriously, this scenario is almost impossible to DV - I still haven't done it!)
