Under the pressure of elite troops and MF concerted attacks the Syracusan center is melting away and their left flank will quickly bore the brunt of an onslaught from superior numbers of Athenian hoplites, while on the other wing is still taking place the holding action devised to stop the flower of Sicilian units.
The Athenian commander is urging his men to do the last effort needed to won the day and so the first match of the competition!

Re: Companion Cup VI - The glistening of spears
Nail biter indeed. I must admit to thinking I had won this a couple of turns before the end, such was my lead and the state of Deeter's army. Indeed going into the final turn (Deeter's) I needed 3 points to win and Deeter needed 12, knowing he had a fragged unit fighting 2 units and he had several other iffy units I thought the day would be mine. But the fragged unit survived, as did most others, and my line collapsed. Once one routed, neighbours stated to lose cohesion and another routs, then there is a hole in the line, then the rear charges follow and the universal shout is heard.... "run away, run away!" Congratulations Deeter, you managed to snatch a victory from the jaws of defeat!deeter wrote:Carthage (deeter) 52/54 vs. Syracuse (Morio) 69/69
A real nail-biter down to the end, not helped by the fact that Morbio rallied about a dozen units from rout. A great game though.
Many thanks,
Deeter

My troops have been un-manned through too much skirt wearing. They rout after suffering as little as 5% casualties. Maybe some heads on poles will help (no offence to my Polish opponents from Europe)Lysimachos wrote:Turn 8

The battle has come to its natural conclusion and the Syracusans are fleeing the battlefield in complete disarray!

Re: Companion Cup VI - The glistening of spears
Maharg and I are on T 12 with him having lost 20 something out of 70 something and I having lost 8 or 9 or so out of 70 something. Unfortunately we have a map where neither of us can really get at the other without committing suicide, so this is likely to go 25 turns.ericdoman1 wrote:Have had feedback from 2 remaining games and quite slow at the mo

Re: Companion Cup VI - The glistening of spears
It has taken 21 days for 12 turns, so if it goes all the way, hopefully it will not take another 21 days.
This would possibly mean the game may not have come to a conclusion before we start round 3.
TGM and I finished our game in 7 days I think! Actually we finished 1 game in a day, which is pretty impressive as there is a 5 hour time difference.
So give me some feedback please on 17th March and we can go from there but I hope you will have played about 10 more turns by then.
BTW this post is intended for both unfinished game.
