Congrats Dave and Phil, although Dave's membership of CLWC may have to be looked into - winning a tournament smacks distinctly of competence.
Simon and I both really enjoyed taking part and I'd like to thank our opponents for being so gracious in their victories. I expect we'll be back next year, hopefully with a bit more experience under our belts (and better dice!).
I was interested when seeing the R&R initially to note the presence of the Feds, possibly my favourite army, but possibly not widely regarded as being a Tournament Tiger
Now obviously there have a been a number of rule changes that benefit them, but I was pleasantly surprised to see them come in second. Would be interested to hear what the army composition was (I'm guessing still going undrilled protected lancer cav in preference to undrilled protected impact foot?) and a bit of comment on how the v2 changes actually behaved on the table as opposed to specualting beforehand...
I can see we are going to have to watch out for that Mr Saunders this year !!
Rob
damn fine performance by Mr. Powell, can't say mine was a huge contribution.
did throw one quite outstanding double 6 though..an armoured cavalry unit beating charging pike at -- which then killing the CinC which then took three pike units to either disrupted or fragged. the centre of the seleucid army collapses. outstanding!
The Feds had no impact foot, and not that much impact mounted. The top two seleucids both had 6 units of HF (although one had all pike and one had galatians). Thanks to all our opponents and to Richard for organising.

Our basic plan was to sweep round both flanks of our opponents while pinning
them in the center with our Lancers.
1st Opponents were Jon Akers and Paul Westmore using Seleucid. We lost 19-6
after both our flanks were beaten and the Pikes reached our Lancers! Ouch...
2nd Opponent was Patrick Dale using Later Carthaginian with 6 Elephants..
Patrick couldn't protect his flanks, our cavalry skirmished against his
elephants, eventually destroying one BG and creating the hole that resulted in
him losing 25-0.
3rd Opponents were Andy Ellis and Bob Amey using Palmyran. A cracking game, we
pushed back their flanks, but they burst through our center. 10-10
At this stage we were surprised to find ourselves only 6 points off the lead.
Nobody was running away with it...
4th Opponent was Rich Love using Sassanid. Again, he couldn't protect his
flanks and we won 23-2. This gave us 2nd place overall.
