I would like to see an option to upload custom campaigns and scenarios within the game, along with a list of other user content that I could download. I'm not sure if the resources would be worth it (guess it depends on how many players want to create and share scenarios), but it would be nice
I really liked the downloadable mods and scenarios for Civilization V and the indie game Gratuitous Space Battles, as an example.

In Strategic Command the players can decide how many points to spend for reinforcement of damaged units. This would be a great feature for Panzer Corps too as there are always too many damaged units and not enough prestige points left

Another wish to add to the list...
At the end of a scenario in a campaign, or a scenario standalone, I'd like to se the detailed list of the unit lost. Now with the button "C" we have a simple table with generic indication of casualties, I' d like to have something more specific, ie: the name of the unit lost ( 2 Wehrmacht inf ), not only the generic type (infantry, tank etc etc)
Cheers!

I d like to be able to turn other flak, especially the 12.8 into AT mode
I know the 12.8 PAK (AT) was a different gun then the 12.8 flak and the latter was afaik not used as a pak,
but the same is true for the 8.8, at least until someone used it as a pak...

longer, alternative "PG" like Campaign new version 0.34 from 2011.08.02 (another bugfix & now in zip format)
First of all I want to thank you for this awesome game (I am a big fan of PG)!
Here to my request:
I would suggest to add the number of suppressed units the same way as it is done for destroyed units (the white number appearing above the unit while attacking). This would help to get a better overview besides the fact that the number of the remaining units changes its color.

Controversy about a game just shows people with strong opinions on both sides of an argument with others buried in the middle. The fact that it is still in player’s minds nearly 20 years later proves that. No issue with it not being in this game; it just allows me to go back to the original and appreciate it even more.Rudankort wrote:Combat animations in PG were very controversal, a lot of people did not like them because they slowed down the game too much. In PzC we tried to integrate animations directly into tactical map, units are actually shooting at each other, and I think we have some cool effects there. At the same time, animations are pretty fast and do not slow the game all that much. I don't think we need to spend time changing anything here.patriot14 wrote:I'm still for the "pop-up" engagement like in the PG version for the playstation. It would need to be on/off capable, but I think it adds a little bit more stress to each conflict. Plus the animations and explosions were all unique and added more sense of accomplishment and realism to the units.
Hi! First of all, my thanks and congratulations to the creators for this excellent game.
I never stopped playing PG/AG (and recently PGF), but now I'm starting all over again.
I would like to make two suggestions for the future.
1. Fuel reserve. I find that it would add further flavour and challenge to the game, nonetheless making it historically more realistic. (I understand the concept has been an issue earlier on the other forum, but I never saw any response to it.) What I suggest is to have a fuel reserve, which works very similarly to prestige. Every time a vehicle is purchased or resupplied, its fuel value is deducted from the fuel reserve. Of course both sides can increase its fuel reserve by capturing cities. This concept would make the horse transport option legitimate, as was the case IRL. In the beginning of the war, the Axis side would begin always with somewhat low fuel reserve, while the Allied side's reserve was abundant. This will make the Axis general think twice before purchasing fighter instead of AA, truck or SdKfz instead of horse transport, etc. The German fuel shortage however would not be constant. In case Germany wins Stalingrad (capturing the Caucasus), fuel shortage problems will be largely resolved. But in case Axis cannot reach a decisive victory at Lake Balaton (recapturing the Ploiesti oil fields), fuel shortage problem will be much more severe than ever.
The fuel reserve could be made optional, just like wheather, supply and FOW. For me, infinite fuel for Axis was/is the one and only flaw of PG, and afaik it hasn't been resolved in any of the sequels.
2. Save ammo option for artillery. In case I don't want because I don't need defensive artillery support, I could check a flag in the unit window, and ammo won't be consumed unnecessarily.

I fully agree with the suggestion made by PG2000. The number of suppressed units should be directly visible, maybe next to the troop strength.
The change in the color of the unit strength is (in my opinion) not enough. And to check this at the menu bar is somehow annoying.
The idea with the mouse-over feature would also be suitable.

I have problems telling which units are core and which are not. This could be made easier, currently I look at the commission date, but that's not the most user-friendly way surely.

Almost all units are core which are Gold border. The Aux units have a silver border. Commission date has nothing to do with core or Aux units on the map.Borsook wrote:I have problems telling which units are core and which are not. That does not determine which is core and which is Auxillery unit.

You can download Panzer General here: http://www.old-games.com/getfile/13883. It has DosBox included and works fine on modern machinesaleader wrote:I think the issue you may be having is one that I seem to be having as well, and that is determining what is and isn't a core unit on the map. Several times I find myself squinting and looking very hard at the icon to determine whether it's core or not before I move it. It was much easier to determine this visually in PG if I recall (can't check because I can't get it to run on my machineKissaki wrote:I swear I bought a paratrooper unit in Norway, which didn't carry over to the Low Countries, because as it turns out it was an auxiliary unit! If we are given two paratroopers in Norway, then I did buy one, because in my Norway save I have three of them. All of them auxiliary.). Same goes for the important objective cities. I find the visual effects for this far too subtle. Could this be looked at in a patch? I'm sure I'm not the only one experiencing this...I have 20/20 vision

Try going through Halibutt and PHCAS unit postings- I'm sure one of those two has done a Kubelwagen and a VW beetle.patriot14 wrote:I own a VW Thing and would love to see a Kübelwagen in the game
