I don't like this kind of enforced change just for advertising sake. It's like not being able to order a Sausage Muffin at McDonalds unless you call it a Sausage McMuffin... as if they don't know what you're asking for.
If I wanted the game - this kind of thing would have pushed me away from the purchase, in the same way as an upsell usually ends up with me reducing the order.
Seriously, try it next time you're at a place that tries to upsell you. Do this:
'I'll have a medium Quarter Pounder Meal'.
"Yes sir, would you like to upgrade that to a large for an extra dollar?"
'No, in fact bring it down to a small meal thanks'.
It really flusters them - they don't know what to do.
