I am really looking forward to getting this game if it's as good as the video clip I have seen make it appear. A high quality strategy game for the Playstation 2 is long overdue.
I remember watching Time Commanders on BBC2 and thinking, I would love to try that, I wish there was a game like that for my console. Well now perhaps there will be.
I have noticed that the release date on several retailer sites has gone back to June :( . Oh no do we have to wait another month to get the game? I hope not but I guess there is a lot to do and it is better to get it right than rush it. Perhaps some kindly soul could put up a new video or two to watch on the official site. I have been told off for repeatedly watching the only clip I could find.

The very best of luck with the game and I hope that it is the first of many of this type.

GBofR sounds like a great template for future renditions of the LA concept in the historical genre (ie the campaigns of Alexander (that could keep you busy for a couple years, are there good Alexander games out), or Hannibal (portrayed as the protagonist defender of Carthage) say nothing of other historical eras and regions (China, Japan). Collaboration with the History Channel and Osprey Publishing are real indicators of the level of respect the guys at Slitherine have earned and deserve. Great work! I'm all for mining those collarborations...Osprey's illustrations have fascinated me since the first Rome picture book I ever ran into.

The combination of historical video sequences and deeper narrative on the campaigns, richer music, will all begin to flesh out the game. I'm with tora_tora_tora; LA is a great start to a stellar game but its successful tactical battle control system should eventually be housed within a broader game environment and narrative that fulfills the potential merging role-playing and real time stategy.

I'll be interested to see how it plays out....assuming that someday in the far distant future it migrates to MAC.
LA is a real standout among the games available to MAC users. With the growing popularity of MAC OS (still tiny I know), I hope Slitherine will see it in its interest to establish leadership among MAC OS game titles through on-going collaborations with Freeverse.

Hello Slitherine,
I just ordered the THCGBOR for PS2. I am in Chicago so I hope it won't be too long in coming from Britain. Let me say first I have been a fan of Slitherine games since the original "Legion" was under development. I followed the latest news and screenshots with keen anticipation. I contacted you back then about system compatibility and such. I played Legion, for many enjoyable hours, and I think it was a great game in its time. Gotta love the German and Spanish mercenary mob tactics! I am also a huge fan of Rome Total War, as is my 7 year old son. We recently bought a PS2, so when I saw this game I knew I would get it. I don't care what other people are saying about redundancy or plagiarizing or blahblah. This game will look great on a big screen with a PS2 controller. Can you tell me what to expect? Thanks for bringing this to market. It will also help to keep my son interested in history, countering all the other mindless rubbish out there nowadays. Cheers! :D

The game is very similar to the PC version, the only really difference is the user interface. It's an RTS though, not like Legion which was turn based strategy, so bear this in mind.

Obviously the power of a PS2 is way below modern PC's so the detail level is much lower on PS2. We just need to work out how to port to PS3 and then it woudl look awesome :)
