Re: CRISIS OF THE REPUBLIC TOURNAMENT / Roman Senate
So, how do we continue? Does everyone play twice or do we use the "first one to get 4 victories"? If the latter, which is the play order? Obviously we want eric to play first since he'll likely win.
Re: CRISIS OF THE REPUBLIC TOURNAMENT / Roman Senate
I'd thought it would be best of 7. So, the other day, wondering how to proceed when the initial round was over, I took the list of the 4 players in the anti-Mithdiridates league and randomized the names, intending that we'd play from the top of the list down until we had a result. Here's what I got:Tiavals wrote:So, how do we continue? Does everyone play twice or do we use the "first one to get 4 victories"? If the latter, which is the play order? However, Klaus now seems pretty clear that he'd like to halt the games for a while until he can catch his breath and re-think things a little. I'm open, however.

News Flash for Senator Tullius:
There are have been disturbances in Sardinia. You might wish to resolve these before the tournament takes its brief hiatus. Details have been PM'd to you but it involves a custom scenario and here is the scenario introduction, written by Senator Adiposus, candidly pictured below. He likes the cut of your jib and feels you may have a large future if your governorship goes well. He's an arch-enemy of Senator Keyth, and seems peculiarly knowledgeable of the Sardinian situation...

My Dear Tullius: A frightful alliance has formed between a criminal band of sardine thieves, Corsican marketeers, and Nugarian tribesmen. The thieves are a motley bunch of escaped slaves and criminals who have plundered the local sardine fishermen and wine growers. They intend to sell their loot to Corsican crooks, who are agents of Senator Keyth. Keyth is notoriously corrupt and his interests in the black market and contraband sardines are practically limitless. Your task is to lead a small expedition to exterminate these pests. Sardinia, as you know, is not heavily garrisoned. Only a small number of Roman troops are available for this police operation, perhaps 2000. Half of these chaps are penal legionaries, a nasty bunch of eye-gougers and not very reliable. You may have to crucify one or two en route to show them who's boss. But you'll make do, right? Of course you will! There's the spirit. You'll have a few local auxiliaries too. They're quite helpful in rough terrain but for Jupiter's sake stay upwind of them. Find these criminals and kill them all, Tullius old boy. Nothing puts the mark of authority on a new Governor like a solid massacre. Gets you noticed by the right sort of people. A great boost to your career. Lots of points! Don't forget to massacre the Hapless Women and Children too; they'll be plainly marked. Have at them all good and strong. And do make sure to destroy all the wine and sardines as well. That'll be spit in the eye of old Keyth! One word of warning: the Nugarian tribesmen are expanding from their inland fastnesses and appear to have an alliance developing with these scum. So beware ambush!

OK guys, I'm trying to take over the bookkeeping from Klaus and I have a Player spreadsheet going. It's a draft and I'll add bells and whistles as we go along. But I think i have the scoring right so far. Anyway, here it is and it reflects the latest scores for the current round so far as I have them.

You can bookmark the battles spreadsheet too if you want, while we're at it.

Anyone heard from Keyth or Kilroy lately?
Best,

I do believe I should have at least 2 points more, if I've calculated properly. My last total was 13, then I got a victory(3), and 3 more points from the slave-market. Then again, if there have been deductions from the Agenda already, and I got points elsewhere(I didn't check the point tally in too much detail), I guess it might be correct and it's rude of me to try to correct.
Re: CRISIS OF THE REPUBLIC TOURNAMENT / Roman Senate
No, it's not rude. I gave you 3 for your win in the Mithridatic war against me and 1 Slave point as well. I'll cross-check with Klaus. Bound to be some errors but we'll figure it out.Tiavals wrote:I do believe I should have at least 2 points more, if I've calculated properly. I am pleased to report complete success in the assigned mission. Keyth's fishy activities are now safely despatched to the bottom of the harbour. Final body count: Romans 10/15, Dangerous Scum 25/24.
As you can see it was a bit closer than we might have liked. The Corsican Middlemen were particularly tough. One of them stuck his hand inside his shirt and shouted "Just you wait till 1796, Italian peon" as he died. I have no idea what he meant; I suspect he was in the wrong tabletop gaming system. And half the legionaries you supplied turned out to be more hapless than the Hapless Women and Children. But, as you suggested, a few demonstrative crucifixions proved an excellent strategy to keep the eye-gouging bastards "on message".
Please accept this gift of 52,000 used sardines.
I remain your not very humble but expectant servant,
Tullius
