klayeckles (early german) 17/43 vs macsen(castilians) 35/35
quite a rollicking battle...macsen suckered me into some poor terrain woods fighting and took a strong early lead...i ran for some gentle hills for cover and safety. on my other flank his xbow sat in cover and pummeled my pike reducing me down. at this point i was considering a truce flag, but i figured i'd wait and see what happened, and pulled out of bow range. he advanced and charged with his knights...but at slight disadvantages...i held (or disaster might have insued). soon he was piling swiss mercenary pike and armoured spear reinforcements across the whole front...but these eventually ran into troops on the hills...that was the beginning of the end, as my swiss pike on high ground was supreme, and quickly were charging off the hill to strike weaker spear...on my left i finally made contact with the xbow using some MF and quicly reduced them...it slowly went from him leading to me having a slight edge, to macsen crumbling to pieces in one turn....
a gamey attempt at some nasty germans defending for their life...great one for the historians! Nice effort Macsen...i really thought i was going down, until i withstood your knights...then i figured i had a chance. moral....don't fight up hill

I figured you were playing for a draw and I was having none of that! Figured I didn't have the time to shoot you to death so gave it my best shot, despite thinking it was a bad idea to attack that hill. Still, a little luck with my knights and you were toast

The Final
ianiow (Imperial) 16/54 defeated MatsuHiroshi (French) 64/63
ianiow (French) 43/63 defeated MatsuHiroshi (Imperial) 58/54
A shame the first game was spoiled when Matsu accidentally forgot to set all his LF with the right orders whilst defending the forest against cavalry. About 7 of them evaded and were caught in the rear, this turned the tide irrevocably. The other game was much closer and could have gone either way until the last few turns. Thanks for the games Matsu.
Thanks also to my other Themed Event opponents. Especially Bates, Epos, Macsen and Londo who all managed to defeat me during this competition only for me to go through with a few more overall AP. It could easily have been different.
Pete, great idea to use scenarios instead of DAG battles for the Themed Event. It made a nice change and I would recommend it to anyone next time.

Div B
batesmotel (Med Irish later) 5/49 beat Lydianed (Swedish) 31/30
Thanks for the game. The Swedish militia was not a match for the cheaper Irish Galloglaichs and the terrain didn't allow much room for using the few Swedish knights.

last match...
klayekles early german 36/43 vs Londo 39/39
that may have sealed the deal for our division....Londo was way behind, but got his knights and lancers in position to do some damage behind the war wagons, and was rapidly gaining on me, but couldn't finish me before i pinched a couple of trapped units...good one Londo. Not sure i like war wagons, but i got the feeling you hate em!

macsen and Santas New Handmaids 35/38 defeated Claymores Achy Italigreeks 32/31
Only a few crossbow bolts in it, Clay decided to defend a hill which I ringed in spears and shot at lots. Might have gone differently if his Alangarrys hadn't been so unlucky.
Cheers
