Rafydedel Khazar 568-737ad defeats phlewis Roman 197-284 ad with Armenian allies 43-10
The Roman had secured themselves a strong defensive position and were holding their ground. They remained very calm and disciplined (and mostly static) under Khazar arrows. When the Khazar engaged in some fight with weakened roman units, the roman legions reacted and initiated some moves, showing their usual strength and solidity, but the Khazar had too mucch advance, and the roman cavalry had been too badly weakended to reverse the course of the battle.

Holien (Seleucid 166-125 BC with Jewish 163-111 BC allies) Defeated ray552 (Spartan 221-146 BC with Roman 280-220 BC allies) 60% to 50%
3rd time Lucky...
After two aborted attempts of finding the right place to battle both forces agreed to a fairly open map with a small amount of rough in the middle and a large section of woods for the Spartans to hug on their left flank...
My did the Spartans like the trees and the early part of the battle they seemed glued to the wood as they did not want their left flank to be open to the more cavalry based Seleucid force. The impass was broken when a bait force was sent to try and move to the Spartan left flank and drew the tree huggers onto the open plain. The bait ultimately was destroyed but they did a good job of splitting a sizable Spartan force away...
A tough battle ensued and while the Seleucid force mostly had the edge the pike blocks of the Spartans ripped into the lighter opponents and at one point looked like they could win. Ultimately it was won with a couple of turns left and the Seleucid Cav managed to finally flank the pikes of the Spartans and wreck the cohesion.
IMO one of the best players in the league to play and have an enjoyable game. Thanks Ray552 you are a gent....

Stones 1985 (Achaemenid Persian with Greek Allies) defeated Karvon (Parthians) by a score of 40 to 6.
Bit of a mismatch in that the foot bows of the Persians had a big advantage helped by some good terrain and were able to out shoot the Parthians mounted archers. Curiously I can't recall a single melee in the game.
Thanks for the game.

Scots are lack of mounted troops,so the charges of English knights on the open ground crushed their infantry.

Kerait Venetian 1440-1500 AD defeats random27 Ottoman Turkish 1430-1500 AD 65-51
Terrified of the Ottoman horse archers in the open, the Venetians cowered with their crossbows behind two large clumps of wood. The Ottomans sensibly tried to go around and/or clear the woods, where the first fighting erupted, but this split the army up and left them open to a Venetian assault outward from the center. The battle quickly disintegrated into a loosely linked collection of skirmishes on different parts of the map. The Ottoman cavalry was hard to catch, but the destruction of the Ottoman foot and the effectiveness of Venetian crossbows and heavy cavalry at, at least, warding off the former resulted in a very narrow Venetian victory. The Albanians were also useful for their speed on horseback. This could easily have gone the other way, as evident from the result. Or random27 could have withdrawn his troops in the last moments to withhold a conclusive result since it only came through in the very last turn. But I suspect he is an adherent of chivalry.
Good game to random27!
