If I may most humbly point out to you worthies by securing an alliance with Ptolemy we also help secure Egyptian grain. That cannot but help our ability to make bread distributions.
Re: CRISIS OF THE REPUBLIC TOURNAMENT / Roman Senate
Somebody had better do something soon about those damn Allobroges. They are cluttering up the landscape with their trashy neon menhirs marking victories over the Romans. So confident have they become that here they are making another, in advance! What arrogance!!

It seems that my proposal for the war against the Mithradates wil happen. Therefore I will choose the following three people(if they accept): ericdoman1, Keyth, Supervark. I believe this army is best suited to battle the Pontics. However, this can be negotiated if my fellow consul wishes one of them for his own army.

Re: CRISIS OF THE REPUBLIC TOURNAMENT / Roman Senate
Hail Tiavals
I thank you for giving me the opportunity to atone and I would most gladly battle the Pontics of 84BC.
Just wondering how we intend to battle the Numidians of 55BC though:)
Anyways, I have been twiddling my thumbs for far too long now and as my fellow Republican, Tophat has mentioned we have been most idle for some time now. The way things are carrying on I am probably going to be called Ericus Idle.
Also Tophat does not seem to have any votes whatsoever. I believe some training should be in order. Luckily I coud not train him on his arrival, as we would have received 5 more votes, a couple of days before the election and then there would be a tie. Strange this does not happen as if my memory serves me well, it happened immediately for a few of us.
I will use a customized Roman army and Tophat may choose one of our enemies.
Salutations
Ericus Domanicus
PS There was no bloody sign of my vineyard on the map and the cartographer is nowhere to be found, well he is going to ahve the damnest thrashing ever.
If this is acceptable, now that voting has finished and the Aristos are in power:)

Re: CRISIS OF THE REPUBLIC TOURNAMENT / Roman Senate
SPQR - the CENSOR PROCLAMATION OF THE ROMAN SENATE
The honorable Consuls Batesmotelus and Triavalus are hereby ordered to array 3 Proconsular Armies.
The 1st Proconsular Army under command of Consul Triavalus will be send to our naval base Cyzigus in Asia Minor in order to engage Mithridates VI who´s about to invade our province.
The 2nd Proconsular Army under command of Consul Batesmotelus will board our fleet in Ostia, destination Salamis on Cyprus. The island has to be conquered and the sea must be cleared from Cilician Vessels regardless of the price we´ll have to pay. As we meanwhile confirmed the alliance with Ptolemy XII Auletes, Egypt promised to send support ( the involved roman commanders can use Later Ptolemaic Roman ooB)
The 3rd Proconsular Army will be send to Gallia Narbonensis to challenge the Allobroges, who meanwhile invaded the province. The Senate strictly recommends to assign Pro-Praetor Rexhurley as commander, following the roman tradition, as he was most recently elected for governship of this province.
All commanders can array 3-4 Legions and assign 2-3 subcommanders. The Senate awaits a mutual agreement on the distribution of subcommanders. Only members of the magistrate ( Consuls, Praetors, Quaestors, Censors, Tribunes ) and Governors are eligible to refuse assignment. Governors are not allowed to leave their respective provinces.
Tullius is hereby assigned as new Governor of Sardinia. Although we´ve conquered this province 158 years before, we still just control the main harbours of this island. We await Pro-Praetor Tullius to rule the province and to write a report about history, geography, tribes and tradition of Sardinia. 6 pts will be awarded for valuable information how to extend our influence on this isalnd.
Greyus Mousus is hereby assigned to govern Hispania Ulterior, he will take on the Army of Sertorius.
The Tribunes Keyth and Kilroy will take advantage of the military engagements of the Magistrate, fights of their gangs erupted for control of the temple district of Rome. Both won´t be available to fight overseas.
For the future every engagement will be fought follwing the "best out of seven" system ( guess it´s used for the NHL play off). Means the side that first wins 4 battles will be considered the winner.

What does that come to in terms of point size, Klaus? Presumably the Barbs will field armies of equal size.Demetrios wrote:All commanders can array 3-4 Legions and assign 2-3 subcommanders. To Tim: we continue using the following rules:
all armies 400 pts, all 3 leaders ( fixed), romans no allies, non-romans 1 ally, max. 8 HC/ Cataphracts.
To Eric: battles not mandated by the Censor won´t count towards the score equalizing the number of votes.

Re: CRISIS OF THE REPUBLIC TOURNAMENT / Roman Senate
Klaus
Forgive me but we all had training and votes when we started why doesn't Tophat receive the same?
I am being commanded by Tiavals? I do beg your pardon but I wish to be equally in command of our armies in Pont or is that the Roman way?
Tophat you need to use a Pontic Late army rather than the one in the COTR lists as it is wrong. PM me when you have a pontic Late army worked out and delete the challenge you have at the moment. It will not be of much help.
When do we set sail and who is joining us or am I allowed to choose?
It will be a Pontic Late army, it can have allies as well? Klus you mentioned taht an eenmey army can have a max of 8 cats and cav. what about lch and hch?

Re: CRISIS OF THE REPUBLIC TOURNAMENT / Roman Senate
Being the Consul, the consulate legion will obviously be under my command. Your poorly veiled attempt at an uprising will be ignored. If you wish, I can replace you with someone else, but we do need good leaders for this war. As it seems our leadership capabilities are very poor at the moment, I will gather only 3 legions, commanded by myself, Supervark and ericdoman1, if he deigns to be under my leadership.

Re: CRISIS OF THE REPUBLIC TOURNAMENT / Roman Senate
What uprising, I have no intention of fighting fellow Romans and even mentioning that is disgraceful.
Leadership qaulities are very poor at the moment, is that another insult?
I would require an apology immediately for the first transgression and if the second one is also aimed at me another apology or find somebody else to go to Pont

Re: CRISIS OF THE REPUBLIC TOURNAMENT / Roman Senate
The insult is yours. That you would question my authority over the proconsular army is inexcusable. The Senate has given me that authority, and doing so you question the senate itself.
As for the second matter, it was merely my assessment of our current number of generals. Perhaps my words were chosen with haste. There are three armies that each will need at least 3 generals, which means a total of 9 generals. At the moment, we do not really have that many generals, thus I called our leadership capabilities very poor.
One should think an esteemed general such as yourself could put his personal pride on hold when Rome itself is at stake. Many consider you one of our finest, but if you would decline to stave off the Pontic threat, perhaps they will reconsider their position.

Greetings from the Guv'nah
Ist, thanks to those in the Consulship for appointing me as Governer of the pleasantly arid wastes and bleak hills of Espana.
Also apreciated is the rejection of the frivolous and obviously contrived charge of tampering with the senatorial votes by Senator Kiljoy.
It appears the xth legion will follow me to Spain. I request authorization to immediatly engage that rascal and traitor Slur-torius.
