Rafydedel (Granadine 1232-1319) defeats Gort7078 (Rus 1265-1379) 57-21

The Rus had secured themselves a good defensive position behind their wagon line set between a wood and a river, at the bottom of the map.
Using their more numerous light troops and crossbowmen, the Granadine managed their way through the forest, and could neutralized the Rus left wing and center. A small cavalry and camel force maintained a distance threat on the Rus right wing which never saw actual fight until the very end.

As the final score indicates, this was a brutal battle that saw the Germans win both flanks but still lose as the Antogonid pikes bored through the German center. This was a close-run game that could have gone either way.

What a slog. The Austrians had a nice slope to defend in the desert on a narrow mountainous battlefield. I still managed to get around both flanks, although awkward pursuit/generalship gave the Austrians the early lead. Then our numbers took us to good big lead, punching big holes in either flank, but the pursuing camels wandered far away and the Austrians heavily armoured troops hacked their way to a lead, before eventually I scraped out a win. ulysisgrunt and I have three games pretty much like this one. I think I lead the series 2-1.

As close as the scoreline indicates. The Spanish brought huge numbers of infantry to the table that the grossly outnumbered Byzantine infantry had to hold. Luckily the cavalry managed to break through in the nick of time (just as my infantry began to crack and was getting surrounded) and score enough breaks for me to win a very narrow victory. Well-played.
