Seriously, though. A red wine in the frig would be heresy (with the exception of Sangria), but what's wrong with serving white wines chilled?

Besides, it's a Pinot Grigio, not a Pinot Gris. I'm abusing Italian wine, not French wine. And you'll note I'm not abusing my palate with California wine

California wines, sigh. You get your choice of -

Chardonnay (acidic enough to pour into your car battery with no ill effects)
Cabernet Sauvignon (enough tannic acid to pucker you up so hard you'll need a whole box of Ex-Lax)
Zinfandel (so sickly sweet you drink with one hand and use the other to wave away the hummingbirds & killer bees)

And as for the disgusting concoction they call "California champagne", well...it's got too much sugar to use for washing your car with, and the dog probably won't drink it, so I don't know what it's good for.

I'm very proud to be a Californian, but our wine industry does not compare favorably with European vintners.

Ah, you obviously haven't looked far enough - there are a number of reds that need to be chilled. I've had some from North Italy, Hungary (IIRC) and Germany that fall into this category plus, of course, red fizz

Many a French restaurant will serve a table or country Red wine from the fridge. I actually had a Premier Grand Cru Red served from the fridge once in France, I rejected it.

I cheerfully admit to an appalling ignorance of French & German wines

Most of what I know began with working in Italian restaurants, so mostly I know Italian and Sicilian wines.

I'm honestly not that fond of reds except with red meat or tomato-based dishes. As far as a "patio wine" just to sit and sip that Pinot Grigio del Veneto is my current favorite, and it's available locally for $4 a bottle, which is a price you can't beat with a stick! Last summer we got it on sale for $3 a bottle; we were joking that it was cheaper than gasoline, and wondering if the car would run on it

My cousin's reply? "Only if it's a Fiat..."

Well Sunday night it Snowed and as I type this at nearly 6PM Friday they have finally decided to dig out our Village. I got out on Wednesday and Today but only in a 4WD. I live on the access hill road and nobody living behind me (some 20 Houses) Have actually got out all week.

The Laughable part is come the Summer the media will be telling us all to stay indoors again because it is too hot.

So if anyone wants to visit the UK make sure it is not Summer or Winter and Spring is our Rainy season, So come in the Autumn but not October because we are all out

Being in Missouri near the confluence, actually several confluences of some large rivers (above and below the St.Louis area) the snow does NOT hit us as hard....normally that is.

Our snow came down last week on Tuesday night then more on Wednesday. Followed by COLD....by Sunday most of the snow in THIS area was melted.

Today the temp was up into the fifties....Sun shine, the carwashs are BUSY. Rain predicted for late next week. This time of year predicted rain has a fifty-fifty chance of becoming sleet/snow and deep.

Enjoy the snow....Paint up some of those "I'll paint them someday" minies hidden way oh so long ago.

We could do with some snow (wouldn't last long though) - 46 deg (Celcius!!) in Melbourne today!!
