I have finished mission 5 Tebourba

And now I have a choice before my Next Mission
Operation Spring Wind
or
Operation Morning Air

Which one should I do?

Whichever one goes to Kasserine Pass, it's an epic and a blast.

A DV on either gives you the choice to go to either Kasserine or Sbiba otherwise you go to Sbiba. It's been a while, but as I recall, I preferred Morning Air although they are somewhat similar and you face similar numbers/forces in each. Prestige amounts are also the same except you get 40/turn in Spring Wind instead of 35/turn for Morning Air. But then Morning Air allows 20 turns while Spring Wind only 16. Basically, it's a pick one.

In some of your other playthroughs, I recall you (sometimes) played both paths (i.e. one on a second save) and then decided later on which one you wanted to keep/continue with? Maybe that could be an option here as well... Would be my preference, if possible...

Anyways, currently, you are already uploading new videos faster than I can watch them! :)

You're correct, I was wrong a DV in either goes to Kasserine.

I haven't played Spring Wind but I enjoyed Morning Air. El Guettar is an expanded version of that map which I like.

I thought about doing this and may do on some subsequent playthrough, but this doesn't seem conducive of a blindthrough...I have been thinking also about my super hard playthrough...

I was thinking it was unbroadcastable as it takes so long to decide what to do and how to attack, but there seems to be a lot of interest in seeing that playthrough...so maybe if you all are liking these smaller videos...maybe I could look into playing a day by day of those scenarios?

Would you all be interested in seeing videos on the day by day playthrough of those epically difficult maps? I am not sure how short or long they will be and maybe a lot of time thinking on them, not sure that would be interesting, but maybe you guys are just that curious.

I mentioned the replay idea but it's also a good use case for a live stream. Speed runners do that a lot where people watch them live constantly restarting/failing, sometimes never even getting past the first few levels. Very low energy and relaxed.

Great stuff, especially as I haven't played US Corps yet....
Just watched the rest of Djebel Abiod, please allow two questions:
1. Are you sure you can actually get double prestige for retaking objectives, it didn't look like...
2. Would you mind showing the casualties screen from time to time as well, please (e.g. at the end of a scenario)?

On the "super hard playthrough", as huckc said, maybe start with a replay and/or play another one as you go (i.e. at your speed)... and then let people share feedback maybe? I would watch both (i.e. either/or) just to learn...

Ah and by the way, I don't have a youtube account (yet) so I will just comment here on the forum...

Also I just watched the beginning of #5 Tebourba. I like the historic movies upfront, they give some interesting context, keep them if you can, please!

I have to say the Bf 109F provided a really warm welcome and there were a few more interesting surprises (not only around air and artillery pieces)... Actually, I agree, I am not sure why you continued in the north?

Hey I just watched this on my little break here at work...I did not get that extra prestige I thought I would get.

I know when they are neutral like that in multiplayer, like in Spoils of War, it works that way, so not sure why it did not work here, maybe I need to let them own it for a day, or maybe it is something updated on US Corps...all I know is it was a brilliant idea brilliantly executed, without the desired prestige gain. :(

Oh well I am doing ok in that area...

About your 2nd point I can certainly do that, I usually don't look at that because it does not let you focus on the kills garnered solely on that scenario just over the entire campaign
Not that interesting to me

No, you only get it once. However, as he showed in Formation, if you start the scenario with a hex with your flag and then give it up/lose it, you will get points to take it back since you didn't get any to start with because you owned it. If you take an enemy (or this case a neutral) victory hex you haven't held (you will get prestige) then subsequently lose it and retake it, you won't get anymore prestige. However, it is a useful ploy to abandon a flagged hex you own to get the enemy to foolishly retake the hex and then attack your arty backed up troops (which he also demonstrated in Formation) as they really want those hexes back. I can't speak to if it works in multiplayer.

Thanks a lot for the explanation on the prestige, this is very interesting!

Yeah, even good old Panzer General had already two columns 25 years ago, one for the last scenario and one for the overall campaign! Anyways, when I am playing, I usually compare them between scenarios so I get a feel for the delta from one to the next scenario... this is nothing important of course, I was just suggesting... 8)

It is crazy how long a single day takes at that level, isn't it...Thanks for the encouragement, I was unsure if that kind of slow play would interest people. It makes for tense rounds, thankfully my family has helped me load some while I am at work, but I have tomorrow off so hoping to get some more in tomorrow morning to upload throughout that day...

I did the explanation and Days 4-7 this morning

Crazy stuff, and some great heroes being awarded. It will be a tough call when I need to decide which one to keep.

Well, I can’t speak on behalf of others but I find it very interesting! In addition, slow (and quiet) play is more than fine at this level... It also reminded me of McGuba's save files for Battlefield Europe (e.g. the Kursk or the Normandy save files)!

By the way, not sure why youtube says nobody has watched days 4 and 5 yet but I just did.

Please Help Question about next 3 units?

Post by goose_2 »

HELP PLEASE!!!

I have just finished El Guetarr and am posed to start Hills scenario...

I have taken a quick look on the parameters of the map and the directions.

I can only deploy 3 Planes...so that will be my 2 SE Fighter's and my Strat Bomber. (That is a given)

But this means 3 planes will be left behind.

So I need 3 units to replace them.

Here is what I am considering:

Infantry: 1 Engineer's with truck (Based on the briefing I will be facing mines and think an Extra Engineer might help.) Thoughts?

Tank: I would love to have more tanks, but they are so crappy with the US, but seems would be more historic to have an M3 Lee. Thoughts?

Artillery: 105mm Towed arty. I would love to get another 155mm GMC, but that seems very unhistoric...so I was thinking upgrading my 3 starred 105mm arty to Long Tom and starting to build up a 105mm arty. Thoughts?

Anti Tank: Ok 2 ways to go on this one: I need another M3 75 GMC, but do I upgrade my 2 starred M3 to a Wolverine and buy 2 more M3's or just buy 1 M3 and keep the other M3 as an M3 and buy 2 of the other options I detailed above?

So those are what I see as the options.

I will work on recording Grand Campaign 45 West Brussels on Guderian Blind...

Please weigh in so I can get back to US Corps.

Thanks

I'd hate to give spoilers to a blind playthrough, but I don't think it's giving much away (it's obvious looking at the map) by saying that as all the victory hexes are in dunes and hills, units that work and move well in deserts, hills, and close terrain would be preferred. Yes, the tanks are pathetic and they stay that way until 2/4/44 which is near the end of US Corps '43, about 14 scenarios in the future. You'll have plenty of chances to enjoy their frailty and practice hiding them from German armor, ATs, and tactical bombers in the meantime.
