Not much of an update, I'm afraid.

But a true one. Stockwellpete is checking with Iain. All is well and all will be well, in the garden.

Iain from Slitherine has told me that work on the game is continuing and that there are no major problems with the new version of the game to be addressed now. Patience, patience . . .

So not quite as 'ready' as the post of June 23rd suggested? Can't say I'm overly worried as Pike and Shot is keeping my attention anyway. In fact, If it wasn't for the existence of FoG I'd have expected the next version of P&S to cover medieval. Napoleonic it should be, then.

i don't think Pike and shot would work for medieval. I doesn't work for early renaissance as of now. the best bets are the wars of Louis XIV and eventually the Seven Years war.

Hello guys,

I've got feedback from Slitherine. They've reviewed the build, and asked for some more minor GUI changes needing a couple of days or so of work. During this time I haven't stayed with my hands crossed, I've started working on updating the Editor, and I have to finish some WIP code I'm working on for the Editor in order to have the build working and do the minor GUI changes Slitherine requested for the release build.

Cheers,
dan

Well, if the fat lady isn't singing yet, she does at least seem to be practising her scales. Well done Dan.

Hello guys,

A new FoG(U) v2.1.01.1002 GC4a build containing all the requested minor GUI changes was sent for evaluation on 13th July Monday morning. I've also sent two beta mod builder versions (one on Monday morning, together with the release build, and another one yesterday evening) to modders. As soon as we'll get feedback from Slitherine regarding the release build, I'll let you know.

Cheers,
dan

A small update,

Slitherine hasn't reviewed the v2.1.01.1004wip GC4a release build yet (sent for reviewing on 16th july), Tamas is away and will be back from holiday on 5th August, but before Tamas will be back Iain will also leave for holiday and return on 17th August.

So Slitherine can't start review/asses the build sooner than 17th August. We'll continue push new builds until then (updating the Editor, fixing small bugs found out in the mean time, more optimization and polishing), and you'll have full access to them anyway

Cheers,
dan

Hello Dan,

Thank you for the news. The content is a bit depressing, but on the other hand, August is for vacation.

However, the definiteness and responsiveness is much appreciated - at least by me.

They haven't provided any excuses or explanations. If we know anything it's because cothyso has taken the trouble to keep at it beyond the call of his self-imposed task. For one I would at least like to see his hard work brought to fruition by slitherine.

A short update.

The new FoG(U) version containing the latest requests (async tasks execution and error feedback (like PBEM server communications, saving/loading data) and buttons tooltip) will be ready no later then the beginning of next week (and there's a chance to be by this Sunday's afternoon/evening - yes, I'm still working during most of the weekends!).

The new version (2.2.00.1006 GC5 by now) is ready. I'm doing the last minutes tests tonight, and I'll release the build tomorrow around noon.

After a lot of perseverance, your hard work has paid off; well done sir! And a big thank you and congratulations from me for sure. I'm curious now to hear how Slitherine officially plans to release this.

Not so much 'how' as 'when'... it was supposed to be good to go in late June.
