As for improvements, IMO some more different hero types would still be nice. Doesn't have to go overboard, but some more variety ...

Also, I'm wondering whether there should be some kind of limit allowing units to get only one of a given hero type (so the other two have to be different). Something like +2 move or +2 range feels a bit overdone. Dunno if that happens still, but IIRC it did earlier, at least I remember getting two move heroes on units.

Just playing GC 42/43W. I now have a SE tank with two move heroes. Would be nice upgrading it to a Panther (movement 6)... ;)

I agree that a +2 (or +3) range for artillery is a bit heavy, especially for StuG IIIA and its successors.

Do you think of something similar to the leaders in Panzer General II?

Having the WWI or Napoleonic Era campaigns would allow cavalry to become it own unit type, same as Zeppelins and "Leadership" (players of Strategic Command 2 would know the HQ unit which provides supply - could be similar)

Also, heroes' bonuses should be scaled based on their unit.
Eg.
Pz4: Attack ~12, Movement ~5
Tiger: Attack ~30, Movement 3-4
SdKfz232: Attack ~1, Movement ~8.

An attack leader on each of these units should be something like +1/6 of previous:
Pz4: 12+2 = 14
Tiger: 30+5 = 35
SdKfz232: 1+1 = 2

And movement +1/2
Pz4: 5+2 = 7
Tiger: 3+1 = 4
Recon: 8+4 = 12.

This would end up that the attack hero on a 1939-40 unit wouldn't have the effectiveness of 4x compared with a 1944-5 unit.
Also, Stug3a should never have more than 2 range (+1 w/hero)

Alternatively, remove heroes and replace them with bonuses relating to Exps.
150+ = +1/4 Movement
200+ = +1/6 Attack
300+ = +1/6 Defend
400+ = +1 Initiative
500+ = +1 (Stugs etc) / +2 (longer range Art'y) Range
599 = Free Upgrades
(all fractions being additional % to what the unit already has)

Also, Poison Gas could be used in that you "gas" a unit, and each turn it loses 1-2 health until you either give it supply, reinforce, elite reinforce or upgrade.

I dunno. All this stuff sounds fun but it all sounds like a different game. Remember that we're takling about what could be done with Panzer Corps. Changing most of the rulesets would make it impossible to use all the existing campaigns with it, unless you want to be able to select about 4-5 different rule sets in the options.
I think we should probably split this thread into 'Future Game Ideas' (wasn't there an ideas for Panzer Corps II thread somewhere once?) and a 'Future Plans for this Engine' where stuff is discussed that doesn't require any rule changes to work.
Just an idea.

"NATO Corps" playing in the 80s would be fun.
Fighting for all the cities I've been, like Berlin, Hamburg, Munich, ...

New game? Fantasy? Flash Gordan Corps.

Do not laugh. The evil forces of Ming the Merciless combined with a few secret evil allies with their armies pitted against the Baron and Vultan along with other scattered good allies and their armies.

Not a Flash Gordon fan? Battlestar Galactica Corps! Make this one a mix of Pacific General and the old Star General. I want to see a fleet of Ceylon Base Ships against a fleet of Galactica-class carriers conquering planets across a galaxy.

Okay so Battlestar Galactica is still in copyright, but you get the idea. :D

I wouldn't duplicate PzGen II's leaders 1:1, but some ideas from there could work nice here too. Maybe heroes that use less ammo and/or fuel (Pz II's" quartermaster" IIRC), give non-engineers some bonus vs. entrenched ("streetfighter") or bunkers, or recon movement for non-recon units like fast SPAT (tho that could be too much of an advantage vs. the AI).

Overall I'd keep the boni moderate though, helpful yes, but not too strong.
