ian, you can also challenge solly for round 2, i know you're playing him now but just put the game up and sit on it or play concurrently.

we're making good progress, the games are turning out to be quite short, under 10 turns I think for most, if not all, of them.

i'm already planning the next series with a different period and a slightly different emphasis: "lords of khurasan" circa 1000, with armies spearheaded by gilmans and dailamis. those are the most potent armies in Decline and Fall. You won't get embarrassed by them once you're through, (you will still lose to them though!) I just need to work on restrictions for unit selection.

just breaking a fragmented unit on the last turn with its
own fragmented unit , luck was with the lithuanians this day.

another game where i did not make use of archery but relied on provoking a general dogfight with no frontline and take advantage of the ensuing chaos, a tactic more suited to the light speared lithuanians that i favour than the other cavalry armies.

It was, for my part a stupid battle with "attacking the nearest enemy no matter what" a al berserk charges. I suppose Ian tried to make something clever, but stupidity won. Disappointingly I've found this is the best tactic so far...
