A quick observation.

Why are you using the Italian Fighter in the Med? I would have thought that they would be better suited to the Eastern front.

I typically find that in the east the Russians usually dont upgrade air that much and that the Italian fighter is better used for when the Russian air force does surface. In africa they will definably be inferior to the UK fighter groups and suffer casualties which if you reinforce spends valuable Italian PP's that they could use better elsewhere.

Just a comment and thought - would like to understand why most players send them to the Med - maybe I am missing something.

I usually send 2 German Fighters, Italian Tac and German Tac - occasionally I may even send a Third German fighter to ensure that I win the air war in the Med. The German fighters usually have the edge over the allied fighters and this in the end saves PP's in my opinion.

I think we're in sync with the exception of the sending TAC's to Libya.

Turn 23. November 14, 1940 Axis.

It was a sunny and warm day here (mid 60's) and I went for a 3-mile walk with Susie (my bichon frise) and my son (who was on a bicycle). In addition to enjoying this fine day I took the opportunity to rethink my strategy and decided to forgo the invasion of Yugoslavia and Greece and focus on a May 13, 1941 invasion of Russia. By the way, what do you think of my simulated typed directive below? I did this in MS word. :D

The directive was done in word, cool..

Agree with the cancellation of greek attack, but yugoslavia brings in additional resources you could use from hungary and rumania.

I guess you still get them in 43 but I think you need them for mop up activities in 41.

Interesting to see how this works out, could of course be inspired.

Curious as to why you did not elect to strategically bomb London after fall of France. Is the oil expenditure not worth the reduction in British PPs?

The weather did influence my decision to skip Yugoslavia. The fact that I couldn't invade during fair weather meant it would take me 3-turns to conquer Yugoslavia. I could have done this and launched Barbarossa "on-time" in June 22; however, I decided focus on a May attack 2-turns earlier and see how well that pays off. If I can capture and Moscow for a while then that will more than enough make up for the PP's that I "lost" skipping Yugoslavia.

My reasons: (1) I wanted overwhelming air for Norway/Denmark as insurance against an aggressive UK response, (2) PP's and Oil and (3) I only have 1 strategic bomber.

Actually bomber with 0 strategic operation tech is not the best thing to bomb capital, if you get unlucky you can lose more then gain.

Yes, which is why I don't focus my air research on fighters until I get strategic ops breakthrough then upgrade both strats and let the bombs fall. Ronnie didn't seem to be on that path so I wondered why not.
